Can anyone trust those Ruskies?

Russia cites but doesn’t release report claiming Syrian rebels used sarin in Aleppo in March by Paul Woodward on September 5, 2013 McClatchy runs the headline: “Russia says it’s compiled 100-page report blaming Syrian rebels for a chemical weapons attackâ€.

Generally speaking, I think McClatchy does a commendable job in refusing to parrot whatever might be the official line coming out of Washington. In this case, however, I think they let their readers down by using a misleading headline.

A lot of people glean their news from reading nothing more than headlines and in this case will likely have missed the indefinite article — a chemical attack — and assumed the Russian report refers to the chemical attack in Damascus on August 21. Evidence that opposition forces had used sarin in Aleppo would be significant, so given that Russia’s foreign ministry asserts that it produced a detailed 100-page “scientific and technical documentâ€, why have they not made the report public and why are they publicizing its existence weeks after they delivered it to the UN? And given that Russia remains a loyal ally of the Assad regime, how are we to trust the objectivity of a report based on evidence collected by Russian technicians which was then examined in Russian laboratories.

The Russian view is far into the future when it comes to the Islamic threat to Mother Russia.

The Russians fear that the same fate awaiting Assad will befall the secular Islamic states surrounding Russia and eventually overrun Russia itself. That is the reason they are going out on the limb for the bloodthirsty Assad. To Russia, Syria is their red line.

No one is saying they didn't happen. There is a video on the Internet of an al Qaeda "warrior" claiming his people have used gas in Syria against women and children.

As to a sarin "delivery system", it is not that difficult:

Actually Flash you prove my point! An effective delivery system would have killed hundreds in Tokyo!

Iran threatens brutal attacks on Americans, Obama family if US hits Syria

As Congress debates whether to support President Obama’s call for a limited strike against Syria for the alleged use of chemical weapons, Iran is vowing to back Bashar al-Assad’s regime to the hilt and threatening to unleash terrorism should the U.S. strike.

Qassem Soleimani, the head of Iran’s Quds Forces, Wednesday told the Assembly of Experts — the body that chooses the supreme leader — that “[w]e will support Syria to the end.â€

And in an unprecedented statement, a former Iranian official has warned of mass abductions and brutal killings of American citizens around the world and the rape and killing of one of Obama’s daughters should the United States attack Syria.

Alireza Forghani, the former governor of southern Iran’s Kish Province, threw down the gauntlet last week. Forghani is an analyst and strategy specialist in the supreme leader’s camp and closely aligned with Mehdi Taeb, who heads the regime’s Ammar Strategic Base, a radical think thank, and thus speaks with the blessing of the Islamic regime.

“Hopefully Obama will be pigheaded enough to attack Syria, and then we will see the … loss of U.S. interests [through terrorist attacks],†he threatened. “In just 21 hours [after the attack on Syria], a family member of every U.S. minister [department secretary], U.S. ambassadors, U.S. military commanders around the world will be abducted. And then 18 hours later, videos of their amputation will be spread [around the world].â€

A similar act was committed in a video of the torture of William Buckley, a CIA station chief who was abducted in Beirut in 1984 and later killed by Hezbollah on Iran’s order. That video was dropped off at the U.S. Embassy in Athens. Former CIA Director William Casey later described what he saw in the video: “They had done more than ruin his body. His eyes made it clear his mind had been played with. It was horrific, medieval and barbarous.â€

Red line?

Where do you come up with this stuff?

This is a forum of views regarding the events in Syrian.

Kindly do not attack me personally if you have nothing to contribute.

Plainsdrifter,

That is not a personal attack. It is a legitimate question.

Where do you get this stuff?

Your post on the poor woman forced for decades to dress in head-to-toe black to renew her Iranian passport was great!

But red line? Is there a source you can quote for that or a link where you read it?

This is not a huge struggle against Islam. This is a single nasty regime in a civil war in a region filled with nasty regimes. If not for Israel the US would not care and I find it very disturbing that the US finds itself “serving as Al Qaidas air force†as Congressman Cruz said..

I did start the thread because I'm interested in the topic.

Although that was not a personal attack I find your response amusing - you are the victim of a personal attack when asked for a source.

If there is something you read on that please post a link...if it is an opinion please say so.

I have nothing to add to my previous post, which was my opinion on the situation.

I didn't read what I posted so no link is available, also note the absence of quotation marks.

If, by chance, you are not in agreement with my post, please feel free to post a contrary opinion. I would be very interested in reading other opinions.

Fair enough.....wondered if you had a Russian article on that.

I fear this is going to backfire on Israel.

Called my Congressman and they have not had a single call in support of action on Syria to the local office and they've had a lot of calls.

For Michael Savage to turn against Netanyahu is huge. Mega. Earth shattering. Listen to his program if you can and then post your opinion here.
