I bought a little copter at Big C, 199 Baht...and it is easy for even Mr. Stupid (me) to fly!

The controls and motors are the most expensive. Below is from their website...possible for $275 USD.

I frequently get asked how much it costs to build a quadcopter or other multi-rotor helicopter. I usually try to add together a number real quick based on equipment I own. Which could come close to $1000. I decided to look closer at the real cost for a basic complete setup to get started flying (if you own zero RC gear).

Below is a buying guide that includes everything needed to put a quadcopter in the air. Best news, it is less than $275 before shipping.

Nice vid, but *please* tell me these toys are too expensive for 90% of rural Thais. I'm not thrilled at the prospect of them flying our less-than-friendly-skies, particularly with the mentality that thinks shining a laser into the cockpit of commercial aircraft is in any way 'cool' .....

I was wondering about that too. Problems with hitting overhead cables etc. In Thailand as far as I'm aware, the electricity is brought in to houses via overhead cables rather than underground, so there's a real possibility of a mishap on that front.

Thanks for the link to buying a quadcopter for $275. Tempting to do and use it as a practice vehicle even if it doesn't include the camera, since I have zero experience of RC planes.

Just looked and there seem to be mini ones on Ebay too, not sure if they could hold a camera though eg
