gawguy
I use a word for this when a girl is giving me a massage and blocking the TV. I say, "Kai yap nit noi" and they seem to understand. Where did I get this word!? I can't find it in any dictionary. Is it a word? Thai? Lao? I see a few ways to say move, but I don't know which one I could use in this case. I'd be happy with "kai yap" if it's not just a figment of my imagination. GG
Flashermac
ขยับ - Thai, to move You may have learnt it from a song years ago ... ขยับ ขยับ เข้ามาสิขยับ (phonetically) ka-yap, ka-yap, ka-yap, ka-yap khao ma si. A girl sang it to coax a certain man to come closer and be bolder. By the late, great Pumpuang ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmrTWZTZd_E
gawguy
Okay..very good. It's in the dictionary when put it in in Thai. When I look up "move" it doesn't come up in the definitions, neither in my paper dictionary, nor computer dictionary nor thai-language.com. Thanks. And what a great memory for an old song!
