Is it still guest friendly anybody have a fresh update ? also has anyone stayed there that can tell me how the hotel and shopping mall connect ? is there a certain floor where as a hotel guest you can walk into the terminal 21 shops? thanks
YimSiam
Yeah, have stayed there a couple months ago, twice, and a few months before that. Yes, guest friendly - my sense was that there are fully guest-friendly and won't bother anyone coming up unless you ask them to check ID and take their name. In my experience, that counts for multiple guests, stumbling in drunk at 11 am with a bottle of Jack and new friends, guests going in and out. I didn't find a way for guests to come up directly from shops, but I wouldn't be concerned - the elevators at the ground floor are actually away from the reception areas, no real gamut to run. Do NOT enter from the shopping area directly, it's long and you have to go up an escalator then out to the BTS, then down another escalator... Enter via the separate hotel entrance on the side opposite the shopping entrance, direct to hotel. Can't remember what type of room exactly, but there are nice suites with big open living/working area and separate bedroom, floor to ceiling windows, very light (but also all kinds of good automated shades). In the same mode, I'd look at S31 just down the street, def guest friendly, similar rooms (s31 bigger, I'd say), but less/zero tourist traffic. 21 has tons of group tourists, China, Singapore, etc. It's a different vibe than other Centrepoints, much more a standard big hotel, whereas the others have a kind of home-y feel (to me - I'm familiar with Petburi and Saladaeng Centrepoints). Partyguy
thanks for your reply YiamSiam ! I was hoping that the hotel and the shopping mall were connected some way so as a guest you could easily access the food court and shops etc. Im surprised that they didn't build it with that type of access ? Hugh_Hoy
I stayed at this hotel for a week in Sept/2012. Staff was very efficient; housekeeping, roomservice was top notch. Maybe Party Guy didn't know the "secret passage" to the shopping mall. Yes, if you take the escalators to the far left of the lobby as you enter, you need to go "outside" to get to the mall. Best/most direct way is to use the exit door near the escalators on the lobby level floor. Other alternative is to take an elevator to the 5th floor where the hotel restaurant is located. Upon exiting the elevator, walk in the opposite direction of the restaurant through a small store and you are in the mall. The hotel is definitely guest friendly if you are escorting some gal. But if she arrives alone, hotel security will call your room to make sure it is ok to send somebody up to you. (You need a keycard to operate the elevators and there is usually security near there within view.) To return to the hotel from directly from the mall, you will need your keycard. It took me a couple of days to get all of this stuff squared away. LOL
