Protesters begin sealing off Lad Phrao Intersection

 

12 January 2014, 6:30pm

 

 

The first group of protesters from Northeast led by former Democrat MP Issara Somchai from Ubon Ratchathani Sunday sealed Lad Phrao intersection Sunday to kick off the Bangkok Shutdown operation.

 

The People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) will Monday begin the Bangkok shutdown operation sealing seven locations in the capital at 9 a.m.

Dharmma Army to take charge of the Rajdamnoen stage Monday

 

 

Members of the Dharmma Army Foundation* will take charge of the Rajdamnoen stage on Monday after the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) moves to other locations.

 

PDRC chief Suthep Thuagsuban will begin his march from Rajdamnoen towards Rajthevi before a group of protesters would separate to Victory Monument, and others will go to Pathumwan, according to Ekanat Promphan, spokesman of the PDRC.

*The Dhamma Army is a group Buddhist monks who have joined the protests and act as medical advisors.

Yingluck holds meeting with police, Cabinet members

 

 

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra was seen Sunday at the National Police Headquarter where she had a meeting with many ministers and senior officials including Deputy Prime Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul, police chief Adul Saengsingkaew to "assess the situation".

Chalerm says govt will not use violence against protesters

 

 

Labour minister Chalerm Yoobamrung said Sunday that the government would not react to the protest with violence.

 

The government mostly would be in defensive mode, he said. "We will allow they do as they want to do. Only one concern is the intervention of third party* to the create violence," he said.

 

Chalerm has been assigned to oversee the protest. :drinking:
