Tell us again how the PDRC are the good guys.

http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/local/398137/man-says-protest-guards-beat-him-in-five-day-ordeal

"A man alleged to have been detained for five days, beaten, tied-up and thrown into the Bang Pakong River by anti-government protest guards narrowly escaped drowning after a passer-by dragged him from the water."

The last paragraph says "Police are investigating. They intend to track down the suspects and charge them with attempted murder." I should hope so.

i would like to hear the full story. was the guy perhaps a terrorist suspect from the earlier bomb n gun attacks?

even so he should have been given due process, but unfortunately there is no such thing available...

good that he survived anyway. else there probably would be no story at all. peace

It appears that this may not be the only such case.

More here

There have been several bodies found, decorated in interesting ways.

Alleged.

Detained for five days, beaten, tied-up and thrown into the Bang Pakong River

Not sure who would go to so much trouble?

Someone who didn't want a witness to survive to identify his torturers, perhaps?

"On Jan 26, the body of Boontiang Kam-im, 41, was found near Samien Nari temple on Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road in Bangkok."

I pass by there almost every day. Boontiang was identified as a protester, not a red shirt. Bangkok is fun to travel around these days. My taxi driver yesterday showed me where the grenade was thrown at the criminal court on Rachadapisek.

I'm innocent, Issara says

People's Democratic Reform Committee leader Issara Somchai insisted he was innocent after Chachoengsao Provincial Court approved an arrest warrant against him for alleged attempted murder and detention of a red shirt who was brutally attacked and thrown into Bang Pakong River.

The court on Friday also approved arrest warrants for five other suspects over the attack on security guard Yuem Nillar, 33, who was thrown in the river with his arms and legs tied.

The arrest warrants were issued after Yuem spoke to police.

He said the five other alleged attackers were PDRC guards who found him carrying a pro-government United front for Democracy against Dictatorship card at a PDRC rally.

He alleged he was detained at the site for five days and taken to the river.

Issara, who faces five charges including assault, depriving of freedom and theft, said he would turn himself in once the PDRC protest ends.

"There is no reason that I had to lead a group of people to kill a person," he said.

"He is only a red shirt without any prominent role. Had we found him coming to our rally, we could have brought him on our rally stage or driven him out of our rally site."

He said it was possible he had been implicated because he was well known.

p.s. I was all over Lumpini Park yesterday, and I did not see a single person being stopped or questioned. The protest camp is wide open to anyone. Why would the victim have been challenged, unless he was doing something to attract attention? :hmmm:

However, the guards looked like someone I would not want to mess with, just as security guards usually do. If it happened as he says, I'd expect it more likely to have been a personal dispute. The original news did not say he was at a rally. He said he was just resting in the park after work.
