Specialist
Flash, depending on when it happened, it could just have been the typical airline silliness. In 2004, I was working a contract gig in Norwalk CT. When it suddenly became time to fly home, I had a choice: I could drive to JFK, drop the rental car for free, and pay $1000 to fly home on American or Delta, or I could drive a couple of hours up to Hartford, pay $250 to drop the rental car and pay another $250 to fly home on Southwest. It was not a difficult decision. It was a nice, educational drive. I was already 40 miles out of NYC. It took another 60 miles to get out of the morning NYC commuter traffic. Luckily, they were all going the other way.
