waerth
This is better than a Hollywood movie, you couldn't make this up http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/34027/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=34027 About 40 red-shirt supporters of the government rallied in front of Nonthaburi police station to demand the police to release on bail four of their colleagues arrested last night for the possession of a cache of firearms and ammunition near the headoffice of the National Anti Corruption Commission. Their leader Sornlak Malaithong threatened to storm into the station if the police failed to allow temporary release on bail for the four persons. The four were arrested and suspected to be in connection with the M79 grenade attack on the NACC office last night. Among the seize weapon is a M79 grenade launcher and M40 grenades used for the launcher, and several rounds of ammunition and a AK 47 assault rifle. Sornlak accused the Army chief of plotting a set-up in the seizure of arms. He threatened to bring more redshirts to encircle the police station to pressure the release of the four suspects. One suspect earlier admitted of owning some of the seized weapon.

StoneSoup
Storming a Royal Police Station to free criminal suspects. That worked really well at Tak Bai. I hope the Red Shirts manage to experience the same outcome. Cheers, SS
khunsanuk
Hi, And as far as I understand it is a judge who sets bail, not the police. Sanuk!

Specialist
The real story came out a few hours before this one. "10:39 AM: Two government supporters and a red-shirt guard were arrested by Nonthaburi police after they were found with the possession of a cache of firearms and ammunition in their car. (Emphasis added.) The weapon included a M79 grenade launcher, and M40 grenades used with the launcher, a shot gun, a pistol, and several rounds of AK 47 cartridges. All the weapon was found near the stage where the red-shirt supporters were holding out at the NACC headoffice at Sanambin Nam road." Sounds to me as though the police have the scumbags dead to rights, and the scumbags really don't like being caught red-handed.
Flashermac
Be interesting to see if this reduces the number of M79 attacks.

"A police source said the M79 grenades had the same lot number as those fired at the Thai PBS head office on February 26, while the RDG-5 grenades had the same lot number as those used in previous attacks in Bangkok's Bang Na area, Chon Buri and Nonthaburi." http://www.nationmultimedia.com/politics/Police-find-cache-of-war-weapons-near-NACC-30230370.html
StoneSoup
I find it hard to believe that the Keystone Cops of Thailand could find their own asses with both hands - so I will assume that a military intelligece operation located these guys, and dragged the RT Police into the final act of grabbing them.
