Guest
Many people in Thailand try to change their fortunes by changing their names. A poor man named Teerapol Llitjirawat changed his to Baramee Thammabandan. Baramee means charisma in Thai, he is now a successful name-change consultant and has more than 250 enquiries a day. Helping hundreds of Thai people change their names for one reason or another. Two of his websites are listed below in case anyone else wants to change their luck. http://www.thaigoodname.com http://www.fortunename.com . TheCorinthian
Not to be rude but what farang would care about this?
cavanami
It explains why you might meet, for example, some lady named "Xyz" and then not see her for one year, but when you do, her name is now, "Abc". I know several that have changed their names in an effort to improve their luck
khunsanuk
Hi, "I know several that have changed their names in an effort to improve their luck" Yep, and it usually makes no difference whatsoever. Sanuk!
Flashermac
One of my colleagues changed her name when she was 56 years old. She'd had a nice, easy-to-pronounce Thai name, but she changed it to something long and unpronounceable. I gave up and just called her by her old name. However, a male student changed his name and I could see why. His first name was Patpong, and he got tired of all the jokes made about it. p.s. My sister worked with a lot of African Americans with "exotic" names. One day she heard them complaining about being called Lakeisha, Kakawana, Devone etc. She asked why they didn't change their names. They said, "We can't do that. Our parents gave them to us." Coss
We can't do that. Our parents gave them to us What an incredibly sane reason
