Sixty locals of Sakaeo province filed a complaint against a red-shirt leader on Sunday after he refused to pay them the bribes they were promised.

Three representatives of the locals, Kampoaun Laosao, Jakkapong Duangnil and Wiriya Promwach, told the police each local was offered the bribe from a member of the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship to join two protest sites on the weekend in Khon Kaen province and Aksa Road in Bangkok.

The deal was each would get THB1,000 per day plus the cost for transportation.

However, the red-shirt leader, whose name was withheld in the media, called to cancel the deal as the group was traveling to Khon Kaen.

When they received no payment, the locals filed the police report and the leader was invited to Nong Mark Fai police station for a negotiation.

In the end, the locals accepted THB500 payment, and the leader agreed to pay for the five vans they had rented, the Daily News reported.

So it's okay to go to the police when you don't receive payment for an illegal activity? Well.....this is good to know. I will now go to the police anytime some whore renegs on a long time but still wants long time money. I'm very sure I'll receive justice now.

which law states its illegal to hire some people to go to a given place and stage/join/hangout (at) a protest site for a day or 2?

well surely prostitution is illegal as a comparison but if one called it a 'guide' well do complain if the time was cut short lol ;)

What is amusing is that the red shirt leaders insist their people always go to protests of their own accord. They never pay them anything. And now a group of their protesters goes to the police to complain about not getting paid. :)

p.s. A thousand baht a day, plus transportation and probably food, is not bad. Remember that the minimum wage is just 300 baht a day. Why work when you can "earn" more just shouting political slogans?
