Victory Monument access closed to traffic. As far as I know, you can walk through it though.

p.s. That video is from 2010, army going in to open areas shut down by the red shirt demonstrators and end the demonstrations. Notice the burning tyres/tires?

Ratchadamri to be closed Sunday

http://www.bangkokpost.com/most-recent/412854/ratchadamri-to-be-closed-sunday

Two main streets leading to the Ratchaprasong intersection and the skywalk will be closed from 9am on Sunday as soldiers will be stationed there to forestall a planned protest.

The soldiers learned the protest would be held in the area at noon.

Phloenchit Road will be closed from Chidlom intersection to Chaloem Phao junction (where Rama I Road meets Henri Dunant Road).

Ratchadamri Road will be closed from the old AUA to Big C supercenter.

The BTS will shut down the skywalk from its Chidlom station to Chaloem Phao junction.

The skytrain will not stop at the Chidlom, Phloenchit and Ratchadamri stations.

As a result, shopping centres in the areas — Gaysron Plaza, Amarin Plaza, Erawan — have announced they will close on Sunday.

Female official faces court martial

http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/female-official-faces-court-martial/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=female-official-faces-court-martial

Phayathai police Saturday escorted a female educational official to the court martial to face charges of violating martial law, resisting and obstructing law enforcement.

The official, 42-year-old Miss Panmanee Chuchao is among a group of anti-coup protesters who assaulted soldiers at Victory Monument and are wanted by the arrest warrant issued by the Bangkok Military Court for illegal assembly, and assaults.

Police said she sprayed an Army Humvee truck with paints during a disorderly incident at the Victory Monument on May 28.

She was awaiting answer if the court martial would grant her temporary release on bail.

Foreigners are strongly advised against criticizing the army or royal family on social media. These are not normal times in #Thailand

In the past, I’ve seen tourists joining protests. But times have changed. One foreigner was briefly detained at a protest in #Thailand
