Prayuth announces coup to meeting representatives after govt refuses to resign

The Army Commander-in-Chief asked caretaker Justice Minister Chaikasem Nitisiri whether the government would resign. After Chaikasem said 'No', he declared a power seizure in the meeting room, a source at the meeting said.

The source said Prayuth raised the question after the meeting erupted in disputes, with neither side backing down from its stand.

Chaikasem was heading the government's team at the meting.

Chaikasem told Prayuth, "As of this minute, the government will not resign," according to the source.

"So, as of this minute, I've decided to seize ruling power," the source quoted Prayuth as replying.

Michael Yon again:

A Kor Por Tor leader just called --

PDRC, KPT, Dhamma Army, Buddha Isara groups all are voluntarily packing out. The Army will occupy all protest venues tonight. Only UDD Red Shirts required a soft "home invasion."

I am on Aksa Road. The Army has complete control. This was a well run operation. The Army had the element of surprise.
