JaiRai Posted June 9, 2014 Report Share Posted June 9, 2014 Interesting - with the Thais I know this story was a big deal and they were all irritated, a little because of the redshirt comments but mostly because everyone was 100% convinced that her father bought her the title. Straight out. Even learned a new Thai phrase which I've already forgotten - something about 'pulling the string' or doing something with the string to exercise influence and change an outcome. If I had a bitch about this whole story it would be why are they all white? apart from a few outliers in Emporium, all the Thai's I have seen are not white. Flashermac Posted June 10, 2014 Author Report Share Posted June 10, 2014 I remember my wife - and everyone else - complaining a few years ago because the chosen Miss Thailand was tall, white as snow, and actually quite ordinary looking. But even back in my Peace Corps days, we asked our Thai trainers who they thought was the prettiest girl. Without exception they all picked a somewhat dumpy girl who was as white as this page, had blue eyes and pale yellow hair. The fact that she was shaped like a potato didn't seem to matter.
