Guest
Research shows that alcohol related deaths fall by nearly a third by introducing a minimum alcohol price increase of 10% , even hardened drinkers consume less. Would this be a good idea for Thailand to adopt ?

Flashermac
The Thai government has raised the import duty on foreign spirits many times. It doesn't affect the Thais very much, since they mostly drink Thai beer and booze.

cavanami
Living in Thailand, I see many farang with pretty much nothing to do, so they park themselves on a bar stool For me, having retired and gone back into the work force 837 times, I get bored sitting on the bar stool. Flashermac
I know of several former BMs who thought it would be great to take an early retirement here, only to leave in from 6 months to a year. Boredom was the reason. Well, what did they think would happen, sitting around day after day with nothing to do, not speaking the language and with no interest in anything but booze and broads? A week or two in the bars is fun, but it wears thin after a couple of months. If you want to stay here, find yourself something to keep you occupied - even if it is nothing more than taking Thai lessons.
cavanami
...and the bars have changed or are no longer even around! Washington Square used to be an adventure every time you went there as there was no telling what would be going on!! Long gone now and the fun that was there to be had... khunsanuk
Hi, Agree 100% with Flash. You NEED something to keep you occupied here outside of the nightlife. Sanuk!
