cavanami
Personal A Jack Reacher novel by Lee Childs, just released. An OK read, maybe just OK as I've read all the Jack Reacher novels and they start to bore me. ***
cavanami
Stonewalled Sharyl Attkisson Excellent! a view from inside the news media and all the hassles that a *** real *** investigative reporter must go thru to get the report on to the TV news! She covered and was involved with; Fast and Furious, Obamacare and Benghazi. The coverups and outright lies that the US government puts forth is shocking. A must read if you want to know. YimSiam
I picked up a cheapo at Chaeng Wattana today ... "English for Bar Girls". A bit bizarre, but worth the 20 baht I paid. That's not just a read - that an investment in future earning potential!

Specialist
Currently working my way through Thomas Sowell's "Basic Economics". So far, what he has covered demonstrates what a co-worker would occasionally describe as "a keen grasp of the obvious". Well, at least it is obvious to ME. It appears that basic economics, the idea that SOMEBODY has to pay the actual costs of supplying the goods and services, is not obvious to a lot of people. YimSiam
"Heirs to Forgotten Kingdoms" - Gerard Russell - a non-academic introduction to the minority and vanishing religions of the middle east - Mandaeans, Yazidis, Zoroastrians. Interesting stuff if you're in the region or curious about this kind of thing, and I haven't found very much similar available. YimSiam

cavanami
One Nation, Under Taught Good expose on the poor educational system in the USA. Provides good ideas to get the system back on track. Many facts and figures to prove his points! He pushes PLTW a lot in the book. I have been out of the USA for too many years, so much new info for me. ***

cavanami
YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS UP by Al Michaels A bit of the life history of this American sports broadcaster. Quite interesting. He had met many people over his 50 years in broadcasting and some of the people were real characters (ie, Howard Cosell). Good read. ***
