Kim Gordon, Girl In The Band - memoir of the female component of Sonic Youth. Loved the band and their mythology in my younger years, this generally superficial or just unremarkable explanation of what it was like disappointed, and casts a bit of shadow over the whole Sonic Youth thing - clay feet, chinks in the armor, whatever. Sometimes better not to know too much, I guess -just take the music for what it is.

Plunder and Deceit

by: Mark R. Levin

Good, educational read! Many people will not want to hear the message as he puts it forth...but they

so urgently need to hear the message and act upon it.

He covers the important issues regarding the USA and the negative effect these issues are/will have on the younger and future generations; EPA, Minimum Wage, Education, etc.

*** 1/2

"God is not great" with the subtitle "How religion poisons everything". Written by Christopher Hitchens.

Thus should be a mandatory read for religeous people but they will ofcourse not read it because they don't want to know about thoughts that diverge from their own.

The book is mainly about the monotheistic religions(christian, muslim and jewish) and explains and gives examples of how religion is behind much, although not all, of the evil in the world.

I finally gave up on "The Virgin Way".

I did manage to finish "50 Shades of Grey". Oy DRECK! The girl who was pushing me HARD to read it dropped out of sight shortly after I finished it, before we really had a chance to discuss it.

Just started "The Way of the SEAL". Working my way slowly through "The Personal MBA". And I started reading Lisa Ann's (porn star) autobiography, for giggles. (It would be a MUCH easier read if she'd bothered to note DATES, even just in years.)

Alone on the Wall, Alex Honnold and someone - quick light read, story of a big wall free-solo rock climber - superlative achievements, but writing an interesting book not one of them. Utterly fails to capture the insanity of what the guy does. Too bad - because it's a real question of how long he'll be around doing it...

Bangkok Asset - the latest John Burdett. Keeping the income stream alive with the Sonchai franchise - seems mainly to require a mention of "Pat Pong" or "Soi Cowboy" every 30 or so pages... Burdett seems to have exhausted the real charms of the first couple books, the musings on Thai culture, mainly, has given way to a more straightforward model. But hey - anything about 40 years of LSD experiments is something I'm willing to read, especially when combined with Thailand, so - keep it coming.

Dead Drunk in Thailand - Paul Garrigan. I pretty much skimmed, looking for something exceptional, sorry to say, for me, I didn't find what I was looking for - certainly others might.
