And yet another incident :banghead:

The latest video clip making the rounds online contains around 24 seconds of footage featuring a male tourist, who users claim is Chinese. The man kicks one of the holy bells at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep and laughs before walking away.

The video clip was recorded by a witness, May Jiraporn, who later posted on the video clip on her Facebook page.

Comments on the video express anger due to the tourist displaying improper, careless behaviour and disrespecting Buddhism. They also talked about other improper behaviors of Chinese tourists in various tourist attractions.

According to Chao Xiaoliang, the Chinese consul based in Chiang Mai, this time period is travel season for Chinese people, in which around 100,000 Chinese tourists will travel to Chiang Mai.

Since Chinese and Thai cultures are different, he says, problems are bound to occur. The Chinese consulate has cooperated with other organisations in Chiang Mai to support educating Chinese tourists about the traditions, culture, and laws of Chiang Mai and Thailand. He points out that despite the publicity of several recent incidents, most of the Chinese tourists have shown respect for Thailand’s traditions, culture, and laws.

Only some have shown improper behavior since they don’t understand Thai language, added Consul Chao. However, to help curb issues, the Chinese consulate and government institutions in Chiang Mai have added more tour guides, who are Chinese speakers, and more signs written in Chinese so that Chinese tourists will understand the proper practices. There are also suggestions for Chinese tourists on the Chinese consulate based in Chiang Mai’s website.

However, it should be noted that Chinese tourists coming to Thailand help a lot to support Chiang Mai and Thailand’s economy.

Yesterday, it was reported that Wat Phra That Doi Suthep has set up paper signs to guide tourists’ understanding and help them follow the right practices. It is a preliminary solution, authorities say. Officials or monks in the temple will also monitor the area and give suggestions to tourists.

Chuan Padwan, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep’s spokesman, tells reporters he has watched the video clip already, but doesn’t want to comment on the tourist’s nationality since it is thus far unproven. However, he assigned the temple’s security guard to study CCTV footages to find the man. Signs to warn tourists not to kick the bells have already been set up.

According to Wisut Buachum, director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Chiang Mai Office, TAT wants to determine the nationality of the man. They are also collecting problems involving inappropriate tourist behaviour so that they can consult with involved institutions and help find solutions together.

Yes, the one child program in China made a generation of brats!

I've seen it in person; one time our Chinese contact was driving us to lunch, there was no parking near the entrance and the

parking attendants politely asked him to park farther away...this guy threw a HUGE hissy fit!!! WTF...he refused to move the car

and we all waited until some parking became available...what a baby!

Another time, same guy, asked the restaurant to bill his company. The service people at the restaurant had no idea who this guy was and politely asked him, "who are you"...he roared, I am the CEO...the service people scattered away.

I could gone on and on with the selfishness that many of today's Chinese show.

Poor manners, a huge measure of entitlement in their personalities, just down right rude and ignorant people.

They also learn at a very young age that being polite gets you nowhere. Only the rude and aggresive ones get noticed. That is why they will always puch into a lift or the BTS before you get a chace to exit. Or they push in when waiting in line. It's just how it's done in China.

Woao he hit it with his FOOT. Now that's low...

Yeah I picked up on that too. For Thais kicking something with your foot is worse than spitting on it - and that's not an exaggeration.

This guy's an idiot. They're everywhere. They must have some super gene that allows them to keep reproducing in defiance of Darwin.
