Flashermac
The people in Laos ... as in Vietnam ... are waiting for the old communist bungholes to die off. The problem is there's no guarantee that democracy will come after them either. Power comes out of the barrel of a gun, no matter who is holding it. Coss
Promising signs in Laos, are, that despite the rich kids behaving in a manner more suited to Red Bull progeny, there are a lot of them being educated in America and Europe and most of them seem to be taking their education seriously, so when the old codgers do go, the young are looking like a modernising moderate influence. Still there are Aston Martins, Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Pagani Zondas to be seen. Even a Koenigsegg. And the nationwide addiction to Thai soaps, causes me to worry. MLG watched one yesterday and I peered over her shoulder. The Thai men in it are all Foofs, crying out loud, at each other, with facial expressions more suited to 12 year old girls, The women were obsessed with wearing high end fashion and bling and only appearing in expensive surrounds, in pursuit of the next 'Rich Scion', who inevitably rapes the prettiest girl. And all this to the sound track of Bugs Bunny. Oh Yay...
migrant
Yes, Mrs M and her Mom watch the Thai soaps. Gives me a good excuse to go outside and smoke a cigar! Can't stand to listen to them even though I can't understand them!!
