Old Pc Backups

Recommended Posts

I was startled to see that my D drive was now shown in red, since it was down to about 25gb remaining free. The reason was obviously largely due to the old computer backups.

So a question: Is there any reason to save backups from several years ago? I doubt if I'll ever want to restore from back that far. :hmmm:

The safest way to backup is to get an external drive. Only connect the drive while doing a backup AND nothing else. That way if you get hit by a ransom-ware attack, your backup will be safe. Just keep the last 2 backups.

I also backup docs to a dvd-rom for longer term storage.

If you have Norton or a similar cloud backup there is no problem. Backing up to a flash drive, as I do, works well since 32Gig is a lot of soace. Otherwise you can delete old backups, I usually keep the last four and delete the rest. Tedious on my system since I have to do it one at a time.
