Coss
Reacting to a news report that listed Thailand as one of the 20 most dangerous countries to visit, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Busadee Santipitaks said on Saturday that the information used by the World Economic Forum (WEF)’s Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report was outdated and biased, and did not reflect the recently improved situation. Thailand is now in the top 10 most dangerous countries to visit The Foreign Ministry statement came after local and international media quoted the WEF report, which ranked Thailand at 118 out of 136 countries for safety and security of tourists. Thailand ‘among top 20 most dangerous countries’ to visit The WEF report said that Thailand’s overall safety performance had barely improved, ranked 34 with a score of 4.4 in 2017 compared to 35 with 4.3 in 2015, citing the high rate of crime and violence and the low reliability of police services. Busadee said that after the WEF report was released in April, the Thai representatives at the United Nations Headquarters had contacted WEF executives and questioned them about the method used to rank Thailand especially since many international organisations like Master Card, Expat Insider and US News & World Report, had ranked Thailand as one of the top tourist destinations. “The WEF admitted that some information was outdated, some information was biased as it was collected using questionnaires. Shouldn't use questionnaires, people might tell you what they think, better to ask Foreign Ministry spokesperson Busadee Santipitaks The WEF promised (on the graves of it's children) to improve its ranking methodology by using more statistics from reliable international sources and reducing the use of questionnaire surveys,†Busadee quoted the WEF executives as saying. Busadee said that Thailand’s ranking in safety had improved to 34th but many other areas such as natural conservation, tourist service, air transport and pricing had also improved significantly. Busadee blamed (someone else) an Australia-based website, Business Insider, for highlighting only the negatives from the WEF report. Coss
I have to say, 'merica is being run by an idiot, so anything from a government source, has to be examined and a determination made, as to whether or not it is real, or a piece Trump bullshit. Sorry USA folk, but the world is not seeing the USA in a credible light anymore. This may not matter to you, but you might find that the world is bigger than the USA and it's certainly more sensible. Flashermac
The USA is quite used to being run by idiots. This one is just a bit more extreme than usual. p.s. He also wasn't in charge in 2016.

Coss
Back to Thailand: Six persons were killed and 11 others injured in a head-on collision between a commuter van and a pickup truck on Highway 317 from Srakaeo to Chanthaburi province before dawn today. http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/six-died-11-injured-van-crash-highway-317/ Tourist left looking like Batman baddie THE JOKER after his cheek was slashed wide open in a horrific sword attack https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/3781995/tourist-left-looking-like-batman-baddie-the-joker-after-his-cheek-was-slashed-wide-open-in-a-horrific-sword-attack/ and just for a tangent The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission has closed down 965 URLs with illegal contents during May 1-June 12. http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/category/breakingnews/ Do the Thais know that when they say "Closed Down" URLs, if the URLs are with Google or Facebook or Twitter or the like, "Closed Down" means made unavailable in Thailand, but still accessible elsewhere generally? Or Censored, actually.
Flashermac
An 18-year-old Chinese tourist drowned yesterday at Phuket, after he and two friends decided to ignore the warning flags and signs and go swimming. The Thais managed to rescue two of them from the high waves, but the third was swept out to sea. (His body's been recovered now.) Yes, Thailand is dangerous ... if you're going to do stupid things. My Penis is hungry
Why would visiting North Korea be dangerous? Your basically on a guarded tour, nothing you can do! How many tourists have died there in the limited tourists they let in I wonder?
