Coss
Hi Coss, Good to hear you are okay! Sanuk! Thanks Boss. I put it down to too much drinking and smoking before I was 40, I've been Non smoker and mild drinker since 50. I'm just amazed I am back to normal in function
migrant
Interesting the comments on St Louis. I have a few friends who swear by them. All had major work done and were real happy with the bill and service
Flashermac
St Louis double prices - Thai vs Farang. That's the main complaint.
JaiRai
So on Tuesday I thought I'd test this hypothesis and I had a Stroke. Ambulance - than at hospital, a probe up my Femoral Artery and they removed the clot from my brain. I am pleased to say, that I have full function restored, so I am good as new, but there's a spot in my brain that will forever be dead to me. I am 57 Doctors are all very pleased, as am I. If I'd been in Laos or Thailand, I reckon I'd be very much worse off. So next time I'm going to Laos or LOS I've resolved to get a health insurance policy., As the last thing I want, is to suffer an event whilst playing with a lady. Whoa = What do you say to that? I'm guessing you got some PMs as this is a potent post. Genuinely sorry to hear about the stroke. It's good that you came through unscathed considering what 'could have been.' I don't like most of the TED talks but... there are a few I REALLY like. This is one. Give it a look. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyyjU8fzEYU&vl=en
Coss
JaiRai, thanks for that, Her experience of her stroke was unlike mine. I was just incapable of getting up from the floor where I'd fallen. That morning I got up and fell down. Fortunately I'd primed MLG with the signs of a stroke in case such should happen and she called the Ambulance. I felt no pain, only an inability to get up, like I was stuck in a dream. How ever, full function is restored. And I'm on the sensible lifestyle from now on. Cheers Coss

buffalo_bill
Sir, my very best wishes . Did completely miss the event , shouldn´d we open a subforum " Strokes and heart attacks " ? Survived a cardic arrest 6 years ago, it is always a good idea to have women around.
Mekong
Bubi Can we make the sub forum "Strokes, Heart Attacks and Seizures" I myself suffered a Heart Seizure 6 years ago and same as yourself and Coss I was lucky enough to have a good woman with me, so good in fact we are still together and have been married for nearly 5 years now. Coss, it did happen in Bangkok, hence the reason I sing the praises of Bangkok Nursing Home (BNH) which as luck would have it was the nearest ER to where I was living at the time. Much like yourself I felt nothing and remember arguing with the Paramedics "Feck Off" Now't wrong with me, leave me alone, I was told I was clinically dead on 3 occasions from the apartment to ICU which was less then 5 minutes with blue and twos blaring. First I knew was some 72 hours after the event when I came to in ICU with sensors all over my body / stuck into various orifice and the machine going "PING" It was a bad dream to me, WFT am I doing here, hooked up to all this shite, I was only 47 at the time. The cause of my seizure was Alcohol Induced or should I say, more ironically, due to the lack of alcohol. I had been a heavy drinker / borderline alcoholic for over 20 years and two days previous I had been told "Cut Down or Else...." I did it wrong (in retrospect) I went "Cold Turkey" my body went into toxic shock, couldn't take it, I had to continue drinking ... can you believe that, told by a Doctor to "KEEP UP THE BOOZE" Once I had recovered from the Seizure I put myself through a course of controlled detox to wean myself off the booze, My Medical Insurance covered the initial ICU costs, the Detox was out of my own pocket ... spent close on 2 years on the wagon but got BORED, why the hell should I be miserable for 5 years extra life, so I went against all advice and indeed now and again. Now I feel I have found the happy balance, I do enjoy an occasional beer, hell yes every know and again I will have the occasional blowout and cane a Bottle of Vodka over one sitting, but not every day, probably less than once ever 2-3 months but I do like my habits. Bottom Line is "Holding Down a Job" been in my current employment for 4 years now, up at 5:30AM every morning 6 days / week, 10 hour working day, if I see some booze left in the bottle, well I have had enough and it will still be there tomorrow evening, not as if the "Fridge Monster" is going to steal it haha. I still am Borderline Alcoholic, as in if there is Booze in my Fridge I can look at for days and not touch it, if non there go into panic attack. Our Lass just about understands now, it is not about DRINKING alcohol, but having easy access to takes the panic attacks away. Totally psychosomatic behaviour I know, as in Mental rather then Physical, or Just a load of Bollox .... actually probably it is just a load of Bollox but I am an expert in such, haha ... and my seizure never caused brain damage. Coss Glad the here you are still with us and fighting fine, even though I have not had had the fortune to meet MLG I know she is good for you, and truth be known we do need one final blowout before one of us pops our clogs and I have no intention of checking out soon.
