Yingluck On The Run?

Recommended Posts

The judicial system has been corrupt for as long as I remember. In fact, Thaksin never should have been allowed to become PM, after he had been found to have hidden billions of baht in accounts under the names of his servants in a clear violation of the reformist constitution of 1997.

"Incredibly, the Constitution Court's 8-7 verdict was a profound fudge. Seven judges ruled Mr Thaksin guilty outright. The other eight were split, four insisting he did not know about the hidden assets while the remainder said the court had no jurisdiction over the case. It arguably marked the end of the constitution of 1997. The Constitutional Court lost credibility, whereas the NCCC was marginalised."

From then on, Thaksin felt he could do anything he wanted. Removing him by a coup instead of by legal means simply made matters worse.

#Abhisit casts doubt on govt efforts, warning that judicial system at stake.#

I thought a coup did that. Such hypocrisy

That's the problem with Face. Face trumps hypocrisy every time.

Pol Colonel Chairit Anurit, a deputy chief of the Bangkok Metropolitan Police,

has admitted in a preliminary investigation that he had helped Yingluck exit the country via the Thai-Cambodian border

by using police vehicles and other cars to pick up the ex-premier from her house in Bangkok’s Soi Watcharaphol area.

Thaksin, himself, was sent out with "Here is some money, run". After confiscating the great deal of his wealth (2.6 bil USD), they let him out with 800 million USD.

Why would the junta risk yet another scandal, they simply want all of them out. Hence such a convenient and quick acceptance of guilt by their own ranks.

Nobody goes to jail and everything to the tune. The government can display a disgraced high rank commissioner but what they wanted was - as many of Thaksin family members out of the country. And no country in the world today expels their own citizens.

Well, Tacky was a police officer, as was his equally corrupt buddy Chalerm. I imagine he still has plenty of friends in the police. Plus the police and military have been rivals for power since the early 1950s. No surprise.
