Love him or hate him, Elon Musk sending a midnight cherry Tesla Roadster  into orbit around Mars, has got to be the coolest use of "Fuck You" money.

Now the yellow Teslas will be demanding him send one of them too.

And in the typical self effacing manner of Kiwis, NZ is not to be outdone, and has launched a shiny thing into orbit.

As NZ's first self made and launched satellite.

Yes I know the company is from USA, but they just turned up with money at the end, the Tech and the effort and the people and the place is NZ.

Does it do anything, or is it just supposed to look pretty?

The Humanity Star is a poetic and entirely useless satellite. For astronomers, however, it’s a pain in the ass.
