Whilst I am mostly agin Animal "Shows" I am confused by the words above, >>inoffensive woman (American, I think)<< I am pretty sure that all American women are offensive.

My excellent translating brain has provided me with an alternative reality to the purported theme of the video above.

The agitated chap is greeting his sister and asking where the free buffet is, she and all the others are providing him with that information. He is happy and everyone is happy to see him. We really must learn that some Chinese are a little more strident in their displays of affection in public, than we Westerners are used to...

Chiang Rai Cops ‘Under Pressure’ After Official Kills Motorist

An administrative official in Chiang Rai province was under police custody Friday for allegedly shooting a motorist dead at a checkpoint earlier this week.

I was once driving from Tachileik in Burma, to Chiang Rai and I was stopped by a bunch of armed Thais in some sort of haphazard uniform.

They searched our car.

Me, MLG and my Japanese/Farang daughter.

It was all very good natured and non threatening, apart from a bunch of heavily armed Thai dudes going through all our stuff. No problems found or issues had.

They didn't shoot anyone or anything, so c'est la vie.

Kiwi woman reportedly drowns in Thailand after leaving tour group

A Kiwi woman has reportedly drowned in Thailand after separating from her tour group.

Local police told The Phuket News that the woman's body was found floating off Phi Phi Island at about midday on Wednesday local time (6pm NZT).

Tanagon Tammakan of the Phi Phi Island Police said the woman was on Phi Phi Island with a tour group, but refused to return with them.

"She remained on Phi Phi by herself and is believed to have drowned while swimming on Wednesday morning. However, details are still under investigation," he said.

He said the woman was found floating in Lo Dalum Bay by a Myanmar worker on a boat, who notified police.

Her body has been taken to Koh Phi Phi Hospital.

Tanagon says a hospital examination revealed no signs of violence and the doctor ruled the cause of death as drowning.

It was believed the woman had been dead for about six hours before she was found.

"She was identified because the tour group contacted police after receiving news reports that the body of a foreign woman had been found. They then confirmed her identity through her tattoos," said Lt Tanagon.

The woman's family have been he said.

Thai police are not releasing the woman's name.

A British national has been arrested in Thailand after the death of a woman who fell from a balcony.

Reece Vella, 25, from Worcester, was arrested by Pattaya police on Monday.

He is being held on suspicion of causing death by negligence, overstaying his visa, and theft.

He is wanted in the UK on an outstanding bench warrant, and in 2012 was jailed for four years and nine months at Worcester Crown Court for rape and assault.

Police say Mr Vella was arrested at a bar a short distance from the scene, and had the woman's phone.

The woman has been identified by Thai media as Wannipa Chanhuaton, 26. She is said to have come from north-east Thailand and worked in a bar in Pattaya.

Lt Col Piyapong Ensarn from the force in Pattaya said police checked the property's closed-circuit TV footage and found Mr Vella and the woman entering the room together. He later left the building alone.

"He said he fled because he was scared of the police because he was overstaying," Lt Col Piyapong said.

"But fearing of overstaying shouldn't have made him leave the woman like that, so we believed he was involved in her death."

Mr Vella is understood to have been on a tourist visa, but had been in the country for about two months.

Officers are now waiting on autopsy results for more information on the circumstances of the death.

Outstanding warrant

Pattaya police chief Col Apichai Krobpe said investigators were compiling evidence in the case and it may take up to a month if Mr Vella was to be formally charged in court.

Mr Vella previously served for one year and three months with the Royal Logistics Corp and was medically discharged in 2011.

On 12 October 2017 he was due to appear at Worcester Crown Court accused of being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine, but he failed to turn up.

An outstanding bench warrant was issued and, according to the Crown Prosecution Service, it is still outstanding.

A spokesperson for the Foreign Office said: "Our staff have offered support to a British man following his arrest in Thailand, and are in contact with the Thai authorities."

POLICE ADMIT SOLDIERS PRESENT AT FATAL CHECKPOINT SHOOTING

CHIANG RAI — Several soldiers were present at a northern checkpoint where a motorist was shot dead last week, a fact not disclosed by police until today under pressure from the victim’s family.

After initially saying only civilians manned the roadblock where Sorachai Sathitraksadumrong was shot to death, a crime for which a community leader is now behind bars, police said Tuesday that armed military personnel were present.

“Based on the facts we have, there were soldiers at the scene,†Mae Suai Police Station chief Col. Vicharn Churit said today. He made no mention of the soldiers in a Friday interview.

The U-turn came after Sorachai’s family and neighbors went to protest Monday at the district administrative office to demand answers and justice for his killing.

In a letter they submitted to officials, the protesters said they had information that armed soldiers were present at the checkpoint on Jan. 2 and could have been responsible for shooting the 34-year-old contractor as he passed the checkpoint with his girlfriend in the car.

“Who’s behind the deadly checkpoint?†one banner at the protest read. “Who was the person who fired the killing shot?†questioned another.

Wutthichai Injai, a local deputy community leader, aka puu yai baan, was arrested two days after the shooting and accused of firing three shots at Sorachai’s car, including the fatal round that struck Sorachai in the head. He told police he meant to fire warning shots.

Sorachai’s girlfriend said they did not see the impromptu checkpoint set up along the road between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. Wutthichai is behind bars awaiting trial, Col. Vicharn said.

A fourth bullet was also recovered at the scene, but Vicharn said it was fired by another individual at the scene who became excited. He did not identify that person, who was not arrested on any firearms-related charges. {Ahaa - this is Thailand}

Vicharn said all of the soldiers denied any involvement with the killing, and no witnesses have implicated them.

Asked whether the soldiers were armed, Vicharn said the soldiers told him they didn’t carry any weapons when he arrived at the scene of the crime, but he’s heard there was at least one military-issued rifle stored at the checkpoint.

“But I can’t confirm this yet,†Vicharn said. “We have to wait for more evidence. We have to inspect the ballistics, for example.â€

Sorachai’s family said they would not hold funerary rites for him until they believe justice has been achieved.

MISSING BRITON’S BODY FOUND BY CHA-AM BEACH

684DD093-CE6A-43BE-BB5B-310B0B088C7D-e1516179689536.jpeg

PHETCHABURI — Police are awaiting the autopsy results of a British man found in the forest by Cha-am Beach on Wednesday, weeks after he went missing.

Martin Wood, 48, was found dead 300 meters inland from the gulf in Phetchaburi province, not far from where he was staying with his family when he disappeared Dec. 30.

“We’re still waiting on the autopsy results, so we don’t know whether he commited suicide or not,†Lt. Capt. Asawapitch Chaisri of Cha-am police said, adding that Wood had been dead for about 18 days. Police found 2,490 baht on his body.

Members of Wood’s family, who are in Phetchaburi looking for him, could not be reached for comment.

Wood was last seen leaving the Dream Boutiques Hotel in Cha-am at about 5am on Dec. 30. Asawapitch said Wood’s relatives hired locals and asked police to help locate Wood.

Daoroong Inpotha, 40, a housemaid at the hotel, said the body found today was indeed Wood, saying that the shorts and T-shirt at the scene matched what she last saw Wood wearing.

According to police investigators, Wood had been a frequent visitor at the hotel for four years. For his latest trip, Wood booked a month-long stay there with his family. He had checked in three weeks prior to his disappearance.

Wood’s family offered a 10,000 baht reward after he went missing.

Hotel staff told police that Wood had medical problems and was believed to be alcoholic.

TWO ISRAELIS ARRESTED AT AIRPORT OVER ‘MAFIA’ HIT ON SAMUI

S__7446569-e1516597861810.jpg

BANGKOK — Two Israeli men were arrested Monday morning at Don Mueang International Airport for what police say was a mafia-style hit on a compatriot the day before.

Police intercepted Dolev Zuarez, 23, Eyal Bokal, 25, Monday morning at one of the capital’s airports, where they were allegedly fleeing Koh Samui after murdering fellow Israeli Maor Israel Malul, 33, on the island.

Police said all three were members of Israeli organized crime.

“They were part of the mafia, so the killing was related to that,†police Col. Krissana Phattanacharoen said Monday. “Now they’ve been sent back to Surat Thani.â€

Krissana said that police believe Zuarez and Bokal were planning to make their way back to Israel.

The pair were involved in violent crime several years ago in Israel, Krissana added, but were not known to have committed murder.

Malul was reportedly with his wife Rachel Ozana at about 2pm on Sunday near the Samui International Hospital on Cheng Mon-Chaweng Road in Bo Put District. In footage recorded from a security camera, a sports utility vehicle is seen striking him and someone else as they attempt to flee on a motorcycle.

Another man exited the vehicle and stabbed Malul, according to police. He died later at a hospital. Ozana was injured but survived.

Police identified the murderers as Zuarez and Bokal and started looking for them. The pair allegedly abandoned their car in front of Rajabhat University’s island campus.

“The men killed the victim over a mafia drug conflict,†police Gen. Weerachai Songmetta said Monday morning. “The dead had just been released from a prison sentence in Israel. All three men were mafia members in their home country. The victim came to vacation here, but the two men followed him to get revenge.â€

Weerachai said police would continue investigating the Israeli mafia network in Thailand.

“We want to check whether Thais are involved, especially on Samui. This case doesn’t end here,†Weerachai said.

According to The Times of Israel, Malul was recently released from 20 months in Israeli prison for aggravated assault of a crime boss. Police believe Malul was part of a rival gang. His brother was shot and killed in 2015 outside his home in Israel.

Two other Israeli nationals at the scene, Meir Kriaf and Dana Kriaf, were also injured.

Krissana said Zuarez and Bokal face charges of premeditated murder.
