Coss
BANGKOK — As if three undeclared wristwatches were not enough, deputy junta leader Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan was spotted wearing what appears to be a fourth pricey timepiece in a photo Tuesday as an anti-corruption agency awaits clarification on the first. The watch, discovered in a May 2016 photo on a Defense Ministry website, appeared to be a stainless steel Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Chronograph (model 5960/1A with flyback function). It originally went viral via the same Facebook page where two other images were discovered through crowd-sourcing..... http://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/2017/12/19/watch-struck-four-embattled-prawit/

Coss
The behaviour of the (in their minds) Hi So, in Thailand has always fascinated me. I think I related previously, once, I was entering the Emporium Department Store in Bangkok, the place where Thaksin's wife and so on, shopped, before they moved offshore. In the entrance they had set up a stage and were about to do something like a presentation, or fashion show, or something. On that stage were about 15 old ducks, obviously the wives of the great and good, all in their best Emelda Marcos hairdos, multi-thousand dollar hand bags, gold plated shoes, and enough bling to fill an armoured truck. And in the full view of the public, no fewer than four, of these pinnacles of society, had their index fingers, buried up a nostril, presumably digging out stray flakes of gold that had become embedded in their nose jam. And all with the devoted attention and care, displayed by their less rich cousins, the Isaan Bar Girl...
Coss
AND THEN THERE WERE FIVE BANGKOK — An online watchdog on Wednesday spotted what looks like a fifth pricey watch on deputy junta chairman Prawit Wongsuwan’s wrist. The discovery was made on CSI LA, a popular Facebook page that crowd-sources amateur investigations, even as the general continues to stay mum about how he acquired his multi-million baht collection of timepieces – their combined value would add up to at least 10.2 million baht – and why none of them were declared in a mandatory assets report. “Here’s another one: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph Automatic Blue Dial,†CSI LA wrote. “The retail price is 24,300 USD.†An Audemars Piguet boutique at CentralEmbassy sells the watch for 613,100 baht, making it possibly the least spendy watch spotted. Others have price tags starting at up to 3.6 million baht. CSI LA said Prawit found it in a Matichon video of Prawit speaking at a news conference back in April. The scandal and daily drip-drip revelations of more luxury watches have attracted widespread ridicule online. “He’s already ‘takin’ it easy.’ From millions of baht, now it’s down to hundreds of thousands,†joked user Sanisha Net Kwanmuang, in a mocking reference to junta chairman Prayuth Chan-ocha’s demand that the media to “take it easy†on his deputy. http://www.khaosoden...tch-watch-five/
Coss
Seven, count'em Seven. http://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/2017/12/22/watch-watch-seven-bling-timepieces-counting/ BANGKOK — The daily drip-drop, tick-tock revelations about a top junta official’s collection of spendy watches continues with a sixth and seventh timepiece spotted. By Friday, amateur sleuths had discovered two more luxury watches worn in past photos by Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan, the junta’s second-in-command who also serves as defense minister and deputy prime minister. In the three weeks since the first multi-million baht watch was spotted earlier this month, the general has refused to answer questions about the bling timepieces, none of which were listed in his mandatory asset disclosure filed upon taking office..... khunsanuk
Hi, And even though everyone knows this wealth has almost certainly come from corruption and bribes, nothing will be done. People will complain and fume on the Internet, until the next thing comes up and this will all be forgotten again. Sanuk!
Coss
Yes and like Drug King Pins, they think that publicly displaying such garish trinkets is a desirable thing. Rather than evidence of wrong doing. If I was the recipient of vast wealth, from crime or other dodgy doings, I like to think, that apart from a good car and house, people would have difficulty in distinguishing me from a well off and honourable Academic.
Coss
Watches belonged to a ‘third party’: graft commissioner politics January 04, 2018 19:07 By The Nation The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) on Thursday said luxury watches possessed by Deputy PM General Prawit Wongsuwan belonged to “a third partyâ€. NACC commissioner Preecha Lertkamolmas said the NACC meeting was told that Prawit had already submitted a letter explaining the origins of the watches. Asked whether the letter had detailed the watches and the third party, Preecha said it is as reported in the news. Preecha declined to confirm that they had belonged to a “friend†as referred to in media reports. The NACC would hold a press conference today, he said. Photos of Prawit wearing several luxurious watches on different occasions went viral on social media beginning over two weeks ago. The controversy began after he was spotted December 4 wearing what appeared to be a silver-and-black Richard Mille watch and diamond ring during a group photo with the reshuffled Cabinet at Government House. While the items appear to be worth millions of baht, he failed to disclose them to the NACC in his assets disclosure as required.
