Coss
President Vladimir Putin's terrifying 'retirement' plan: Forcing a 'unification' with Belarus https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/article.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=12204952 The dominoes are once again beginning to fall in Europe. Crimea. Ukraine. Georgia. And it's all because Russian President Vladimir Putin doesn't believe in nation states. Except, perhaps, his own. Putin has stated that "completely independent states do not exist" and that all countries are "interdependent." It's a convenient line to push under current circumstances: He wants Russia to swallow-up the former Soviet Union state of Belarus. Belarus, however, isn't so keen. "Belarus is ready to merge with Russia," the Moscow Times breathlessly blared at the weekend. But Belarusian dictator-President Alexander Lukashenko does not appear to be anywhere near as enthusiastic as the words put in his mouth entail. He's just been through a three-day summit with President Putin. He knows full well how keen the Kremlin strongman is to annex his small country which sits on the border with NATO countries. And the Moscow Times didn't report Lukashenko repeatedly insisting on preserving his country's sovereignty.. more at the linkovitch above
Coss
Russia moves 20 hypersonic missiles to testing site, signalling another milestone for the weapons program. Nearly 20 Russian missiles that the U.S. is currently unable to defend against were recently moved to a military testing site, signaling another milestone for the Kremlin’s hypersonic weapons program, according to people who have direct knowledge of American intelligence reports. “This shows they have the ambition to develop these weapons and that they have prioritized this particular program. The Russians have basically determined that they are comfortable with the design and will now focus on fine-tuning the weapon through testing,” one person, who spoke to CNBC on the condition of anonymity, said. The air-to-ground hypersonic missile dubbed “Kinzhal,” which means “dagger” in Russian, has been tested at least three times. In July, the Kremlin successfully tested the weapon against a target nearly 500 miles away. What’s more, in another U.S. intelligence report, according to a source, the hypersonic missile was mounted and launched 12 times from a Russian MiG-31 fighter jet. Additionally, work is underway to mount the weapon on a strategic bomber. The weapon is slated to join the Kremlin’s arsenal as early as 2020.... https://www.cnbc.com/2019/03/21/russia-moves-20-hypersonic-missiles-to-testing-site-signaling-another-milestone.html
Coss
Russian military planes land near Caracas Two Russian military planes landed in Venezuela's main airport on Saturday, reportedly carrying dozens of troops and large amounts of equipment. The planes were sent to "fulfil technical military contracts", Russia's Sputnik news agency reported. Javier Mayorca, a Venezuelan journalist, wrote on Twitter that he saw about 100 troops and 35 tonnes of equipment offloaded from the planes. It comes three months after the two nations held joint military exercises. Russia has long been an ally of Venezuela, lending the South American nation billions of dollars and backing its oil industry and military. Russia has also vocally opposed moves from the US to impose sanctions on the government of Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro. Russia condemns bid to 'usurp' Maduro Why Russia has so much to lose in Venezuela Venezuela's crisis in nine charts On Monday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke on the phone with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, urging Moscow to "cease its unconstructive behaviour" in Venezuela. "The secretary told Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov that the United States and regional countries will not stand idly by as Russia exacerbates tensions in Venezuela," the state department said... https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-47688711 удачи (udachi)
panadolsandwich
On 1/20/2018 at 5:23 AM, Coss said: This is so easy, an Aussie could have done it. A strange thing I find, is that after beating every team that they come against, the Kiwis do this funny thing when it really matters at the world cup and they choke. What is especially embarrassing is that it's kind of a religion over there, yet Australia have won the cup more times, despite having multiple sport codes. It's kind of sad really. Or as Trump would say SAD! (because he doesn't really possess a vocabulary, or more likely a working brain). And I really like Kiwis! I mean South Africa beat them in 1995 with a veteran team that should have been put out to pasture decades before! Maybe Stick can explain it, I certainly can't. Coss
Russia's ruling party loses third of Moscow seats The United Russia party - which backs President Putin - has lost a third of its seats in the Moscow parliament - according to Russian media. It will be seen as an embarrassing setback for the Kremlin - although the party still retained a slim majority - 26 out of 45 seats - after Sunday's local elections. Multiple opposition candidates had been excluded from the ballot paper. That combined with anger over falling incomes and a rise in the pension age triggered the biggest protests in Moscow for nearly a decade, with thousands being arrested over the summer. Prominent opposition politician Alexei Navalny - one of those excluded - had pushed his supporters to still go out and vote. https://play.stuff.co.nz/details/_6084691153001 ___ Well that was unexpected, I thought that Putin-esque leaders just raped and pillaged until they killed the wrong people...
