Good link, certainly a good resource.

You know, I've never understood why people are glued to the food of their own country, or non food in the case of McD's. I avoid McD's like the plague and any other of those fast food chains.

I once spoke to an English guy, who had lived in NZ for 50 or so years and went on a trip back to England, with his wife to see his relatives. On the return journey he stopped in Rome for a couple of days, wife wanted to. I asked how was Rome? Good food? Italian food -a great cuisine. No, he said couldn't get any good food in Rome only "Foreign Muck". This man could not eat, anything other, than English food. Blinkered chap, he was.

If I go to Thailand I look forward to Thai food, to Japan, Japanese food, Vietnam, Viet food, you get the drift...

That surprises me, I would have thought Chinese food was good across the board, mind you there's Philippine food, which cannot be awarded the name cuisine.

And Burmese food, I only had lunch once in Tachilek so a small sample, but I know a Kiwi here who's married a Burmese lass and he agrees, Burmese food is not so good.

Gentlemen,

I wish to contribute to this excellent thread as follows, putting cost of living in BKK into proper perspective:

Deep inside Soi 4 on your left you find the Central Thai Competence Center for Diseases of Unspecified Kind. ( CTCCDUK ). Commonly known as Naree Massage. Lovely Pam from Lao is working daytime and I have to do something after breakfast. Once I have made it to Naree Massage I fix a treatment time with one of the doctors on duty and move on to a restaurant next door, name unknown but neighbouring an establishment called Swan Inn. This restaurant charges about 500 Baht as far as I remember for 1 water, 2 Singha and pork sweet and sour . The latter even eatable.

2 Singha early in the day makes me feel somewhat dizzy and plus aforementioned treatment within the next two hours I forget all about where I am, who I am and what time it is. Absolutely great feeling gentlemen, I love this.

Alltogether we are finally talking about maybe 3000 Baht including meal, medical interaction and motorcycle back to hotel. I very much doubt, gentlemen, that a quality arrangement like this could easily been had anywhere else. Not to forget that Bumrungrad is round the corner should your heart stop working with joy.

On a sidenote I swear to brutally kill an unknown person from Australia who has selfishly taken away the absolute jewel of Naree Massage. Name G.... . I still have her Thai mobile number and regularly try to find out if heart broken but so far no reply.

This is what I wanted to contribute.
