Mekong
I described myself once as Ex0-Society - I am on the outside looking in, Outside Looking In reminds me of this tune (yes a sad cnut with a tune for every occasion) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kc3Za3jfvJg And you can bring me to my knees again All the times, that I could beg you please, in vain All the times, that I felt insecure, for you And I leave my burdens at the door But I'm on the outside I'm looking in I can see through you See your true colors 'Cause inside you're ugly You're ugly like me I can see through you See to the real you All the times that I felt like this won't end It's for you And I tasted what I could never have It was from you All the times that I've cried, my intentions, full of pride But I waste more time than anyone But I'm on the outside I'm looking in I can see through you See your true colors 'Cause inside you're ugly You're ugly like me I can see through you See to the real you All the times that I've cried All this wasted, it's all inside And I feel, all this pain, stuffed it down It's back again And I lie here in bed, all alone, I can't mend But I feel tomorrow will be okay But I'm on the outside I'm looking in I can see through you See your true colors 'Cause inside you're ugly You're ugly like me I can see through you See to the real you
Vintage_Kwai
How true, Flash. I cringe whenever I notice someone going overboard. Doesn't take long, someone learns fifty Thai words, has been here six months and he's waiing the bl**dy security guards at the cheap rented apartment he's staying at.. Been here almost thirty years, how time flies, but Flash has been here since the Paleolithic ages.. Recently been inducted into the 'Old Fogey's coffee club - Thailand chapter' at the market near my place - I partly blame my 76 year old next door neighbour. I'm the 'farang who's been here too long' so lots of banter and I get the latest on what people on the ground are talking about. And the coffee is only ten baht.. Mekong
Get used to it. I've had my pronunciation "corrected" by newbies. One of them told me my tones in a two-syllable word were wrong. I proceeded to write the word in Thai for him and explain what the tone rules were. He got decidedly pissed off at me. New Wood Does Not Burn Does it? Mekong
Been here almost thirty years, how time flies, Damn Vk got me thinking now Thailand has been "Home Base" since February 1991 neigh on 27 years now does that make me just over 25 or coming up to 30 haha. Always had a home there (from where I am speaking now) had fits and starts of 3 years working in Thailand a couple away with Thailand for R'n'R 4 years in Thailand then 3 away etc Currently into 4 years plus in Vietnam but spend 8 weeks a year "Back Home", hey if one has Yellow Tabian Baan Chanoot in ones name and majority of "Current Bank Accounts" in Thailand it is Home, well it is in my eyes. I dont try to fit in, Farang, Thai Sympathiser and all those pigeon holes "Fuck Off" I am Mekong simple as that, just plain old Mekong , I can converse with the Mrs and her close family in Thai and they understand, have a laugh and joke with them and it is OK because they know me, but as I said part in jest previously when out and about in Thai Society it is gob shut, head down and take the lead from the Mrs ... Just smile or nod my head at the appropriate pauses

khunsanuk
Hi, Forgot where I read / heard this, but thought it quite spot on: "The more I learn about Thailand, the more I realize I don't know shit." Sanuk!
