Purely from a dispassionate and objective interested view, I'm following the unfolding of the current delta outbreak in Auckland, from the perspective of how it's spreading.

Initial transmissions seem to be, going shopping at supermarkets, eating at cafes, drinking at bars and wait for it, going and having a pray, with hundreds of others.

Talk about, self selecting.

Interesting turn of phrase, Christians “Go to Church” or “Attend a Service” but going and having a pray with hundreds of others is something followers of another religion do 5 times a day.

Same in the UK high infection clusters are to be found amongst members of this community.

Authorities in New Zealand have been playing Barry Manilow's greatest hits in an attempt to dislodge protesters camped outside the parliament building.

Songs by the US singer are being played on a 15-minute loop, along with the Spanish dance tune, Macarena.

The demonstrators, who are angry at Covid-19 vaccine mandates, responded by playing songs such as Twisted Sister's We're Not Gonna Take It.

The protests began on Tuesday when a convoy of vehicles drove to parliament.

Inspired by large rallies against vaccine mandates in Canada, hundreds of protesters arrived in the capital, Wellington, to rally against Covid restrictions.

They adopted the name "Convoy for Freedom" and blocked streets in the city.

Well Barry Manilow should clear them

Down here Neil Young is a firm fave of us hippie types, the original protesting dudes, from when NZ mainstream society was still in it's:

"Yes I know it's not the 50s, but we'll try and maintain a faux status quo, of the 50s, right through the 60s, 70s and 80s"...

The younger protestors (the ones that aren't just stupid or nuts), have adopted their father's and grandfather's lifestyle themes, as a form of protest, not having any understanding of the meaning of the word Irony.

Christ, there was footage, of one lady protestor doing, as near as I can see, a Half Lotus Himalayan Goose Pendant position, on a wee coloured mat.

Not far from the Maori Sovereignty flag protestors and the Trump 2024 protestors and some oh, Anti Mandate protestors.

Used to be types when I was at University who were known as people who would protest anything and change their protest signs on the fly, so as to be 1st in front of the cameras. This lot are all having a collective whinge, about their separate causes for mental unhappiness.

New Zealand authorities blast James Blunt and Baby Shark at anti-vax protesters

Authorities in New Zealand upped the ante on Sunday as they tried to disperse protesters from outside the country's parliament.

After Barry Manilow's greatest hits on a loop failed to dislodge the anti-vaccine mandate demonstration which has been sat outside for almost a week, they turned to a song which strikes fear into the hearts of parents around the world: Baby Shark (doo doo doo).

They even joined a sing-along to James Blunt's 2005 hit, You're Beautiful.

As of Monday however, protesters have not been moved, with hundreds still remaining outside parliament.

Getting serious now, James Blumt.

I think that the main issue for the police and powers that be, is that despite arresting over a hundred, a few days ago, most of the remaining protestors, are  disparate groups with disparate causes, no one issue, at this time, other than "freedom".

No leaders to talk to, no lawbreaking, other than some verbal abuse and remaining with tents, after being trespassed.

They're getting the "light touch".

It does show the fecklessness, of these representatives of the lower end of the bell curve of commons sense and sanity, each of them holding up a cellphone with a different conspiracy theory on it and shouting about it....

As to  freedom? What? like the freedom to protest on the government's grounds without being machine-gunned?
