Reality Check: Are migrants driving crime in Germany?

Reality Check verdict: The German interior ministry says that in fact last year 27 illegal migrants either committed or attempted to commit murder or manslaughter. The 447 figure refers to killings or attempted killings by all asylum seekers and refugees, most of whom are in Germany legally. Overall crime in Germany has fallen to the lowest level since 1992, but there has been an increase in migrant crime.

German study links increased crime rate to migrant arrivals

The German state of Lower Saxony witnessed a 10.4 percent increase in crime at the height of the migration crisis, according to a study. The study’s authors said age and reporting practices factored into the connection.

A new study suggested a link between an increase in reported violent crimes in Lower Saxony and a significant increase in migrant arrivals in the state.

According to the study, which was conducted by the Zurich University of Applied Sciences and paid for by Germany's Ministry of Family Affairs, police witnessed an increase of 10.4 percent in reported violent crimes  in 2015 and 2016. More than 90 percent of the increase (not of total violent crimes) was said to be attributable to migrants.

The study's authors claimed that part of the increase was due to the fact that violent crimes committed by migrants were twice as likely to be reported compared to those committed by German nationals.

Migrants Riot, Throw Stones at Police in German Asylum Center

Dan Lyman December 11, 2018

An asylum center in Bamberg, Germany, was placed on lockdown during a riot in which paving stones were thrown at security officers and a fire broke out, according to police.

The facility sustained over $100,000 of damage during the melee, which required more than 100 officers from "numerous task forces" to contain, as well as a fire response team.

At least 11 people were injured during the mayhem, and eight suspects were immediately apprehended, all of whom have been identified as Eritrean nationals by authorities.

"Several residents attacked security guards and police officers," Bavarian police say in their report. "In addition, there was a fire in an apartment of the institution. Numerous task forces are now in control of the situation."

"Around 0.45 clock, security personnel were attacked after a disturbance in a building. Subsequently several male persons barricaded themselves in the building. When the first police patrols arrived, some were pelted with paving stones."

Authorities say they are now investigating breach of the peace, arson, and other offenses.

Number Of German Gun Licenses More Than Double During Migrant Crisis

According to a report from Deutsche Welle, rising perceptions of “insecurity” were cited as a driving factor

The German government has been struggling to contain a rise in violence and social anxiety that rocked Europe's wealthiest nation since Europe's refugee crisis started just over three years ago, when Chancellor Angela Merkel first announced her "open doors" policy in response to a wave of refugees fleeing Syria, Afghanistan and North Africa. The result: German citizens are now rushing to obtain basic firearms licenses.

8-year-old German girl bullied and stabbed by Arab child at migrant majority school – Teacher covers it up

A news item from German broadcaster Sat 1 tells about the traumatic experience 8-year-old Yara had at a migrant majority school. She became an outcast, was bullied and even stabbed.

Little Yara was the last person in her classroom who spoke German at home. Her school can be characterised as a migrant majority school with Turks and Arab migrants as students.

The bullying of Yara increased and it even ended with her being stabbed by an ‘Arab child’.

Germany has the idea to take in more migrants since the German people do not make enough German babies to support and maintain the German population thus the Merkel plan to bring in the migrants. Good luck with that!!!
