4K porn

And still just as boring. After seeing it a few times, it's about as erotic as watching soi dogs going at it.

Indeed. Though I think you might be lacking the inner 14 year old that is a necessary prerequisite for any and all porn, just about.

I downloaded a couple of 4K movies @50+GB per movie you would expect something significant but on a 65" LG 4K and seemingly being played as HEVC 10bit 3840x2160. TV has a field refresh rate (what I call a frame rate) of 200Hz.

So far I'm not that impressed, compared with regular full HD 1080p I can't really see that much difference, all a bit 'maybe'. Seating is some 4m back from the screen. As for the refresh rate I would expect higher rates to be smoother. Watching footie on an old UK spec 625 line TV at 25Hz frame rate only looked smooth because of the poor definition and the interlacing. At UHD resolutions it might require super high frame rates or artificial motion blur to appear smooth. But do tell what I'm missing here. Curious.

It was probably just upscaled to 4K from DVD!:evilpumpkin: Most movies are shot to appear best at 24 fps. So set cinema mode on the TV.

Check the bitrate of the video. True 4K video will probably be above 100Mbps.

Your eyes natural are set around the sub 30fps rate. When you go to a higher frame rate, the "blur" your eyes see, which makes a smooth ball look good, is now get a strobe like effect, the ball juggers across the screen. So depending on the "action" fpr will differ. There are some good videos on Youtube showing this effect.

It's only good for massive screens i.e. cinema, because from the distance, it looks good and not stretched HD.

Most movies are around 200++ gb in size, and must bit bit perfect before they are decoded (frame by frame decode and encode JPEG2000) This is movie production wanting to keep away from pirates.

These files are so large, that the majority of cinemas receive the files by a multicast satellite file distribution system, which is why I know what I know,

Most pirates are projectionists, so every projection has inserted into the movie an unseen series of information identifying the cinema, date and time, and the exact projection device, when a pirate copy is found. if it's a good copy, commercially a threat, then that copy can be traced back to what cinema projected it. Note the decrease in pirate movies anyone?

8K?  For what? The only two good ideas I have heard is 1 - Magicians (imagine a shark eating the bloke in a straight jacket that drops into one of those glass aquariums on stage)  2 - Use it to create in rooms a feeling of a corporate box at a live sports event.

What is far more interesting in TV development is tiny tubular system, so that depending on the angel you are from the TV, the view changes, imagine being on the left of a TV and seeing a car from the front and the door opens towards you, you can't see inside the car the pretty girl in a tiny skirt getting out, no fanny flash, now walk to the right of the car and you can see inside the car as the door opens. Fanny Flash!
