Check the bitrate of the video. True 4K video will probably be above 100Mbps.

Thanks. Yes very likely a crappy upscale. Blu-Ray max is around 100GB so it would seem that 4K is likely to fit that, maybe just.

It's only good for massive screens i.e. cinema, because from the distance, it looks good and not stretched HD. 

Most movies are around 200++ gb in size, and must bit bit perfect before they are decoded (frame by frame decode and encode JPEG2000) This is movie production wanting to keep away from pirates. 

These files are so large, that the majority of cinemas receive the files by a multicast satellite file distribution system, which is why I know what I know, 

Most pirates are projectionists, so every projection has inserted into the movie an unseen series of information identifying the cinema, date and time, and the exact projection device, when a pirate copy is found. if it's a good copy, commercially a threat, then that copy can be traced back to what cinema projected it. Note the decrease in pirate movies anyone?

8K?  For what? The only two good ideas I have heard is 1 - Magicians (imagine a shark eating the bloke in a straight jacket that drops into one of those glass aquariums on stage)  2 - Use it to create in rooms a feeling of a corporate box at a live sports event.

What is far more interesting in TV development is tiny tubular system, so that depending on the angel you are from the TV, the view changes, imagine being on the left of a TV and seeing a car from the front and the door opens towards you, you can't see inside the car the pretty girl in a tiny skirt getting out, no fanny flash, now walk to the right of the car and you can see inside the car as the door opens. Fanny Flash!

Aha, good info, thanks. I don't see much drop in pirated content but it is all pretty much low grade HD only, and I guess the finger printing is why. The tubular TV sounds good, but once again I can see the porn industry being a big draw 😂

But now ya just went an opened another door, the whole eye scan rate its not about fps tale. I seem to be heading down a Michael Stevens rabbit hole.
