Flashermac
A small group of people, believed to be Mexicans and Peruvians, rallied in front of a hotel in New York, where Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and his Thai delegation were staying on Tuesday, to demand free and fair elections and the restoration of democracy in Thailand. Thai TV pool reporters, who were in front of the Plaza Athenee hotel, said about 30 protesters, wearing T-shirts bearing Thai national flag, were holding posters demanding democracy through free and fair elections in Thailand. When asked by one of the reporters whether they knew where Thailand is on the world map, they admitted they had no idea. None of the protesters could speak Thai and most of them could not even speak English, said the reporters. The protesters arrived at the hotel at about 9 am on Tuesday, but didn’t meet with the Prime Minister, who had left the hotel for the United Nations General Assembly at about 7.30 am. In his Facebook post today, Senator Somchai Sawaengkarn mocked the anti-Prayut protest, suggesting that the people behind the protest are so desperate that they had to hire Peruvians and Brazilians to protest in New York. https://www.thaipbsworld.com/protesters-against-pm-in-new-york-cant-speak-thai-or-know-thailands-location-on-a-map/
Flashermac
I'm not sure if this belongs under Thai news or US news, so I flipped a coin. p.s. But note that Prayuth doesn't know the difference between Mexico and Brazil.
Coss
Could be a sign that the anti-establishment movement (as we used to be known 40 years ago) has crossed international boundaries and will now protest any perceived wrongs. Or if you get arrested, it looks good on your asylum application? Cav? Wot yer think?
Flashermac
That's it! The Mexicans and Peruvians in Noo Yawk cleverly started by protesting wrongs that they'd never even heard of. Now the Hispanic illegals should take up the cause of the Rohingyas and those poor folks at Nauru, maybe West Papua's independence too.
