The jury is out, on people being infectious whilst being asymptomatic, whilst it is thought that this could be the case, it is yet to be established empirically. That's a fairly simple piece of information.

That jury has come back with a guilty verdict!

Health officials say the large cats got sick from being exposed to a zoo employee who had COVID-19, but was asymptomatic. The Bronx Zoo has been closed since mid-March; the first tiger began showing signs of sickness on March 27, according to the USDA. No other animals in the zoo are experiencing coronavirus symptoms, officials said.

Lack of test availability is a continuing problem.

So far, Houston, the nation’s fourth largest city, has not recorded a swell of confirmed coronavirus cases similar to those straining health care systems in New York and Detroit, giving some residents hope that stay-at-home orders issued by local officials came early enough to stop the virus from spreading too widely here. But interviews with Houston ICU doctors and nurses — as well as the daily rise in the number of critically ill patients now showing up in their hospitals — paint a more sobering picture of what’s happening in southeast Texas.

While limited testing has prevented officials here and across the state from getting a complete accounting of how many people have been infected with the coronavirus, hospitals in greater Houston have seen a steep increase — 40 percent over four days — in the number of patients believed to be suffering from the virus, according to a daily census of hospital admissions collected by the SouthEast Texas Regional Advisory Council, which helps coordinate emergency response efforts.

There has to more than one, to make it true, for every asymptomatic person, infected with covid-19.

And all this demonstrates,  is that one  zoo employee, who we all know is a genetic outlier, can infect a limited number of tigers.

President Donald Trump insisted Friday "anybody that needs a" test to detect the new coronavirus "gets a test." The comments come amid criticism of the administration in recent weeks over the lack of tests available to doctors and hospitals. (March 6)

I trained with Peter Navarro in Peace Corps Thailand Group #43 in 1973. Pete was something of a loner who had very strong views about everything. I'm surprised to see how far he has gone these days, especially since he is a life long Democrat and ran for office as one several times in California. He is a brilliant economist and nails the PRC perfectly with his comments on China. But it is quite odd to see him stepping in to support a drug that even most MDs are wary of.  It definitely appears that his boss told him to go in and defend this potentially dangerous drug, and I can't see him doing it otherwise. I'm sure Pete has no financial interest in promoting this drug, but perhaps some one else may, or it could just be that Trump simply doesn't like anyone disagreeing with him.
