Coss
https://www.nationthailand.com/news/30395428?utm_source=homepage&utm_medium=internal_referral Oct 01. 2020 The Government Gazette website announced that long-stay tourists would now be allowed to enter Thailand, after the Cabinet approved the measure on September 15. According to the gazette announcement, foreigners who intend to apply for a Special Tourist Visa (STV) should: > Be a foreigner from a low-risk country wishing to stay for months in the kingdom under Public Health Ministry regulations. > Accept compliance of preventive measures as prescribed by the government, including submitting to alternative state quarantine in appointed hospitals/hotels for not less than 14 days. > Provide evidence of a place to stay during the long visit. > Show proof of payment for hotel accommodation or admittance to hospitals chosen as alternative state quarantine facilities. > Provide one of the following as evidence: * Proof of payment for hotel or accommodation to be used after discharge from quarantine. * Copy of a condominium title deed owned by the visitor or a family member. * Evidence of renting accommodation – condominium or house. * Evidence of payment for the purchase or lease of a condominium-type residence that foreigners can legally buy or lease. > Proof of health and accident insurance policy, which should cover the entire period of stay in Thailand, with insurance for medical expenses in case of outpatient treatment of not less than Bt40,000 and in case of inpatient treatment of not less than Bt400,000. Foreigners with the evidence needed above will be eligible to apply for a one-time STV from Thai embassies or consulates in selected countries. Eligible visitors will be charged a visa fee of Bt2,000 to stay in the kingdom for 90 days. After this period expires, immigration officers will have the power to permit the visitor to renew his/her visa twice, each for another 90 days. Foreigners must submit an application and pay a fee in accordance with the rules. With the gazette announcement, the STV policy takes effect from October 1 until September 30, 2021. ... baa99
As long as there is a quarantine requirement, I won't be visiting. Most of my visits were 2-3 weeks in length. The Thai government should just provide COVID-19 health ins. by adding a 2000 baht visa charge.
Mekong
Copy of a condominium title deed owned by the visitor or a family member First time I have seen that quoted as a requirement option, about bloody time.
cavanami
Is the 14 day quarantine still required?
YimSiam
It's an odd exception to permit, this long-stay allegedly-touristic visit mode - but hey, any opening is a good opening, even if it's one that I can hardly avail myself of now or in the foreseeable future... How I missed "accidentally" getting trapped-in-Thailand for the lockdown duration, I can only wonder - I really have lost my touch, not to have foreseen that and been able to find myself mid-adenoidectomy medical visit or long-weekend-holiday visit back in March or whenever when the silk curtain first went down... Instead it was stuck in North Africa for me, and while sure the Mediterranean coast is fine, I would have much rather done my waiting and telecommuting from Thailand. Looking forward to the day when I can sign on to whatever program the RTG puts forward, and come do my best to revive the tourism economy one lady drink at a time... It wouldn't matter. The quarantine procedure is just about full lockdown. NO VISITORS, UNDER *ANY* CIRCUMSTANCES. One of the other guys posted about it recently. Specialist
Oh, and the Bangkok Post website has a story that says the first load of long-stay "tourists" was supposed to arrive on Oct 9, but they've run into some problems getting all the ducks in a row in China, so they're going to have to reschedule (i.e., slip the date out a while).
