Thailand’s Health Ministry is to propose allowing restaurants in dark red zones to re-open for in-house dining from September. Kiattiphum Wongrajit says the proposal is based on declining case numbers in recent days.

“The Covid-19 situation appears to be improving. Certain restrictions should therefore be lifted.”

The Bangkok Post reports that the Health Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, has met with representatives from 9 business sectors affected by Covid-19 closures across 29 provinces. Kiattiphum says that following the meeting, the ministry has decided to ask the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration to approve the re-opening of dine-in services for fully vaccinated customers.

It’s understood the re-opening, if approved, would have restrictions attached, including limiting restaurants to half their capacity. Businesses will be required to implement disease prevention measures, including allowing enough space for social distancing and adequate ventilation of the premises. Staff must be encouraged to get vaccinated and submit to regular Covid-19 tests.

According to the Bangkok Post report, Supanavit Eiamsakulrat from the Thai Shopping Centre Association says the 9 affected business sectors have asked the ministry for permission to re-open gradually from September 1.

During the first phase, restaurants would be allowed to re-open for dine-in services at 50% capacity. In phase 2, this would be extended to 75% capacity, and in the third phase, restaurants would be permitted to re-open fully.

Meanwhile, it’s also being proposed that a number of other businesses be allowed to re-open in phase 1. They include construction, medical and dental clinics, spa and massage parlours, beauty salons, outdoor sports facilities, IT and electronics shops, furniture and home décor shops, and golf courses.

Covid-19 Situation Administration to approve the re-opening of dine-in services for fully vaccinated customers.

Considering only about 8.2% of population are fully vaccinated, most being elderly or ill, not many people will be dining out then.

More bullshit from Ministry of Health to make things appear better than they actually are.

I have heard this about estimated 300 times within the last 12 months published by some German authorities. Then restrictions were lifted and reestablished 4 weeks later. Kind of JoJo. You can do what you want, the virus lands whereever there is an unprotected victim available. The situation in Siam like elsewhere is desperate for many people but without vaccine ( or Cav´s worm-treatment 😎 ) everything is useless.

Troops, cops seal 600 worker camps

fears infected employees will spread virus

Troops and police have been mobilised to seal off almost 600 construction worker camps in Greater Bangkok to ensure workers will not leave before their camps are closed.

The government has imposed closures of risky places, particulalry workers' camps, in Bangkok and its surrounding provinces and four southern provinces of Pattani, Yala, Songkhla and Narathiwat for 30 days, starting on Monday, to curb the spread of Covid-19 that shows no sign of slowing down. Some camps have already been closed.

About 80,000 workers, most of whom are migrant workers at camps in Greater Bangkok, are required to stay in their camps while they are sealed off...

At the end of June General Pinocchio said

”To prepare for reopening and manage the Covid-19 situation, from July onward, the Thai government aims to administer 10 million doses of the Covid-19 each month. By early October, nearly 50 million people, or at least 70% of the population, should have at least their first dose of the vaccine.”

https://thethaiger.com/news/national/thailand-still-planned-to-fully-reopen-on-october-15-despite-covid-19-uptick

At present, 5 weeks from this date the percentage of single vaccinated people is 30.66%. Vaccine roll out was 27 February 2021, so 30.66% in 25 weeks and another 39.34%i in the next 5 weeks?

I thought the government said that people would be prosecuted for spreading fake news.

Hi,

"About 80,000 workers, most of whom are migrant workers at camps in Greater Bangkok, are required to stay in their camps while they are sealed off... "

Which basically means that if one of them has Covid, they will have all have it by the end of this quarantine.
Hopefully the gov will actually provide food for them.

Sanuk!

Daily Covid deaths soar to record 312

Thailand logged a record 312 new Covid-19 fatalities -- substantially more than the previous high of 239 -- and 20,515 new cases over the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Wednesday morning.

Gentlemen,

common sense here seems to be complaining about the local government. Reasons enough I admit, but even the heroic Israeli warriors lost the battle for the moment as it looks. Like fighting cancer there is no path to victory. We have to adjust to the threat, avoid risk and show reasonable behaviour. Masks and vaccination being part of the latter.
