Covid - your thoughts please

Some of us decline the vaccination because we've already had the disease, are aware of the concept of "natural immunity", believe that it actually works, and see no reason to take two injections that, for us, apparently have no medical value.

I had COVID-19 in March of 2020.  I have not been reinfected, despite the fact that about one out of eight Americans is now confirmed to have had COVID-19.  That's lots of opportunity for exposure since I had it the first time.

I expect that I will eventually be compelled to get it, so that I can once again visit Bangkok and see friends I haven't seen in far too long.

I am 100% pro vaccination but it's also subjective to our beliefs

I am very cautious about mandatory, while I approve, 3 years ago I'd be demonstrating against it

I think calling people stupid is not the way to have a meaningful disagrement

Yes, mandatory, is a serious step to take, but then, I'd like my nurse and doctor and kid's teachers to be vaccinated rather than not.

Calling people stupid.. it does tend to bring them out of the woodwork.

Travel Ban, Unable to go to Live Events / Bars / Nightclubs, Employment restrictions etc. Basically your choice to not be vaccinated, the consequences are as listed

That seems to be the way forward, people are prepared to get vaccinated, now that their cultural leaders (Trump et al) are telling them to.

Some of the most virulent anti vaxxers, I encountered a few months ago, have moderated their opinions to, "shouldn't be forced on people who are at death's door anyway" and "If I am allowed to choose, I will get the jab."

So it's becoming less about the jab and more about, what was underlying their stance anyway, self determination.

And there is the rational thought process.  There are people who're not having the vaccine, that are sensible and medically prudent. These are not the ones who think that the jab, is a veiled attempt to take away their guns, or some other B.S.

I am glad you made it through the Covid infection, can I ask, do you know if you have any lasting effects?

Some of us have do underlying health issues, in my case, I'm happy with the jab, chance to meet new people,  2 for 2 and waiting for a booster in 6 months or so.

My specialist medical (no pun intended) mate, who I've mentioned before, who spends most of his days in a space suit, in an ICU, reckons near full vaccination rates, followed by boosters, perhaps annually. Like the Flu.

I can see this as the way forward, because not only are our (the world's) efforts, getting traction, but the ongoing evolution of viruses, tends to mean that they become less dangerous over time and more vaccinated, than not, people survive, so the viruses have a more difficult time infecting new hosts.

From the virus' point of view, killing all the hosts doesn't make for a very effective reproductive strategy.

When I was at school we were given the Polio vaccine on a sugar cube (no not Bork), later we had the TB vaccine, a passage of rites, one had the same scar on the shoulder as your father, if you like your first tattoo (not that I have inkings)

The number of times I fell of my bike, fell on broken glass, got bitten by neighbors dog etc and ent to the local infirmary for a tetanus jab, it was just all part and parcel of life and growing.

As I got older and traveling overseas for work I have had, Yellow Fever, Cholera, Typhoid, Hepatitis, Rabies and Anthrax vaccinations to name a few. I never complained it was being forced on me, it was simple no vaccination, not allowed into foreign country, Covid Passport is nothing new, I have had a vaccination passport for over 30 years, it just seemed normal.

And to hear todays anti-vaxxers whining and winging about civil liberties and against their will, Pathetic.

Measles - 80 dead, many under 4, because some idiots went out on the vaccination kills path.

Just before Covid you needed to prove you had a measles vaccination before being able to travel to many Pacific countries.

I had to have my international health passport updated to show my proof of vaccination

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson avoided questions about his vaccination status during a meeting with the media on Thursday.

Jackson has tested positive for COVID twice, once in Nov. 2020 and once in July 2021. He would not reveal whether he would get vaccinated ahead of the upcoming football season.

“I want to keep that between me and my family and the doctors. That’s all,” Jackson told reporters, via ESPN’s Jamison Hensley.

Mekong, the difference is that those vaccines actually worked.  They actually conferred immunity.  The COVID-19 "vaccines" do not confer immunity.  If anything, they make the vaccinated person potentially MORE dangerous to everyone around him, by suppressing symptoms that would otherwise tell him to STAY HOME and NOT go out infecting everyone in sight.

Yes, I'm exaggerating.  Some.

I am trying to explain that to non vaxxers as well. They just don't understand it.
