Night entertainment venues nationwide remain shut until at least mid-January, according to the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

CCSA spokesman Taweesilp Visanuyothin said the CCSA meeting chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha decided to defer by another month a plan to allow pubs, bars and karaokes to reopen on Dec 1.

The new tentative reopening date was set for Jan 16 and only for some areas, depending on the Covid-19 situation.
"We need time from Nov 15 to Jan 15 to prepare for the reopening," Dr Taweesilp said.

Since the country reopened on Nov 1, alcoholic drinks have been allowed only in restaurants and eateries in Bangkok, Krabi, Phangnga, and Phuket

So Thailand has ascertained that food stops Covid infection, what other reason is there for allowing alcohol in restaurants but not bars.

People bar hop. Rarely do they restaurant hop.  Remember the Thong Lor cluster that was traced to  infectious people visiting several clubs?

The real reason for the delay is the real vaccination rate is lower than the official figures and the Sinovac needs a (non-Chinese) booster. :_pumpkin:

The Thong Lor “Cluster” gets blown out of proportion, there were only 118 infections, but this was at a time Thailand had a very low infection rate which is only 2.5% of todays infection rate and 0.5% at its peak.

It was also misnamed, it was not several bars in Thong Lor but 2, along with1 in Ekkami 1in Klong Toey and 1 in Pathum Thani. I would like to see someone go bar hoping between Tong Lor and Patum Thani, only 50KM  / 1 Hour from each other. If bar hopping caused the virus to spread why only 2  bars in Thong Lor, why not all of them especially the more popular ones.

Also to dine in restaurants Double Vaccination is required, so it bars were open the same rules would apply to bars.
