Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and Sri Lankans

Is it just me, or are these some of the most stunning women on the planet ? Not sure why, but I had drawn a mental line along Thailands border with Burma and declared the area to the West of that line 'no mans land' ....

Politically, theologically and ideologically, these countries are so very different to both the West and Thailand, but I have little doubt that they have influenced Thailands ethnic makeup, culture and history.

Between these countries and certain former Soviet Republics, some of the most beautiful women in the world are living their entire lives without a single Brad Pitt fantasy - somehow, that makes me happy :)

Flying with Air Lanka I was dazzled by the hostesses who oozed a mysterious and sumptuous beauty. As for Indians etc we have no shortage of them in the UK and they are often very pleasing to the eye ;)

Phil,

Is there a 'bloody Paki' attitude to people from these countries in Britain, or is that a thing of the past ?

I watched a series called 'Trading Races' recently, and the second episode featured a young Bangladeshi woman called Sofina. Quite attractive, but as soon as she opened her mouth and the broad Brummie accent erupted from it, I lost interest (probably sounds funny coming from an Aussie !) in her looks and concentrated on the racial divide she claimed existed in Birmingham. I find it weird that someone can sound more like a local than any of the landed aristocracy (or those that aspire to that status), and still be seen as different ...

Interesting that both she and the white woman who masqueraded as an Asian woman came away questioning their assumptions about race and racism.

There is that attitude, or at least that attititude is held by 90% of the population openly and the other 7% secretly. The asian women are lovely very very demure and work hard. The asian men on the other hand can be a nuisance. There is a perception based on reality that they are bleeding our welfare, they will all be signing on and working as cabbies etc.

Also in business they are notorious, I know a lot of people that wont deal with business men from the sub - continent. ( this also applie to arabs) unless they pay cash up front.

The average white working man feels very very resentful about paki's he sees them taking the lions share of public funding, they are also very very vocal when it comes to allegations of racism. It is being said that the police are reluctant to stop asians and other non whites for fear of them running down the law centre the next day.

There has been long running resentment against paki's rightly or wrongly, there is however a new wave of Jonny come latelys in the form of eastern European asylum seekers, who are causing chaos.

While I agree with some of what you say, but not wishing to appear too pc I think we have plenty of lazy ass whites here sponging on the social, I know of at least 5 families living close to me who have way to many kids and see it as a god given right to get all the handouts they can. One family got given a brand new transit van for there string of brats and had there council house knocked into two houses with the empty one next door. I guess I might feel different living in Luton or Bradford though, I don't have so many Asian sub-continentals living close by.

Thanks, STH - I appreciate the honesty of your reply, and its one of the strengths of the board that we arent bound by PC crap. I'm not in favour of the skinhead element, but I think its important that we dont allow the pendulum to swing too far the other way, either. My attitude is : one country, one set of laws, if I live there I do as the Romans do.

One of the Pakistani guys on the show was a young cop, and he claimed that he felt more British than Pakistani, having been born and educated in the UK. Obviously, he mixes with a wide range of people every day - my concern is that some people are able to spend their entire lives within racial enclaves, much as the Aussies do in parts of London :)

Your description of the Pakistani business ethic, or lack thereof, makes me curious. If the only Indians I had ever encountered were the hustlers who try to flog you a watch or a suit in various parts of Asia (I swear I met the same guy in both Singapore and Pattaya, then he cropped up again in Hong Kong 8 months later !), I would have a pretty ordinary opinion of Indian men.

Give it time, STH, and the Paki kids will get the education (and socialisation) that their fathers lack : its happened with every race (bar one) here in Oz, and I'm sure that even the Lebanese will eventually be seduced by our laid-back approach to life asnd put away their AK-47s.

Yes, I agree. Which makes me think how hypocrytical us Brits were in our colonial days, you know-not speaking the local lingo Indian, Adoriginal Oz/North America etc etc. Yes, its in the past and we can not be held to account now, but in say 200 hundred years when immigrants alter the old fashioned way of life in England the 5/6 generation immigrants (like my family comes from Saxony) can say the same..its not our fault.

The Romans didn't follow the ancient Britains codes.

This is my somewhat protracted take:p

The Romans may not have followed the ancient Britons way of life, but modern day immigrants dont come with that degree of military superiority, either.

The Angles and Celts have weathered successive waves of conquest and immigration, but it bred the spirit that led Churchill to declare, 'We shall fight them on the beaches ... we shall defend our island'. That speech still puts a tear in my eye : if only the terrorists were half as visible as Hitler's forces were in 1939 ...
