2. I was in Asda with the missus and put a box of Stella in the trolley. “What do you think you are doing”? Asks the missus. I reply “its on offer £10 for 24 cans” “put them back we can’t afford it“ she said. A few aisles on she picks up a £20 jar of face cream and put it in the trolley. “What you doing”? I said. “it makes my face look beautiful” she replied. So I said, “so does 24 cans of Stella and its half the fucking price”.

 4. An Aussie and a Maori walk into a bakery. The Aussie steals three pastries and slips them into his pocket. He turns to the Maori and says "pretty slick aye bro, the owner didn't even see me". Unimpressed the Maori replies "typical dishonest Aussie, bro I’m gonna show you the honest way and still get the same result". The Maori calls out to the owner of the shop and says "bro I want to show you a magic trick" intrigued the owner obliges. The Maori asked him for a pastry and he eats it. He asks for another and eats that to. And the another which he eats also. By now the owner says "c'mon mate where's the magic trick?" The Maori points to the Aussie & replies “now check his pockets".

 5. Decades ago there used to be gatherings of a large group of mongers, Meet up at a place near cowboy, usually one with great burgers or a midget at the door run by Santos, Then off to all the bars as a large group, numbers fluctuating depending where someone dropped of or rejoined the mob. And the great joy was a post on Monday or Sunday about the bar crawl. Who got drunk, was the most handsome man, an online debate would follow on line defending oneself from disappearing so soon, and your opinion of that great bar sucks. For those living overseas it was a great way to remember what you might be missing In Oz we'd have our own get together, sitting at a mates place, now passed on, getting Thai food and beer, if lucky even Thai beer, and talking about past bar crawls. Ahhh the mamories!

 10. I had dinner with some people who hail from middle eastern parts yesterday, and they were as shocked as the rest of us are. These folk are such kind people, that they volunteer at the local community centre, to help in any way that they can. The father is taking weekly bible classes, because his intellectual curiosity is piqued and he wants to learn about Christianity so that he understands it better. They describe themselves as modern Muslims, their daughter is a doctor and a friend.

 11. Coss Seems to slight confusion on how we both define "Social Welfare" but I will give you my definition based on the UK model which I happen to be au fait with. Whilst Health, Education, Pensions and Defense etc come from UK Central Government Expenditure they are not what are defined as "Social Welfare" or "Benefits. These include, but are not limited to, Tax Credit, Housing Benefit, Child Benefit, Disability Living Allowance, Income Support, Incapacity Benefit, Job Seekers Allowance, Council Tax Benefit, Unemployment Benefit and so on, there are approximately over 60 different benefits which can be claimed, and the benefits scroungers know them the best. There are people in the UK who have never done a days work in their life, never paid into the system yet are taking from it. Millions of Immigrants flocking to the UK being given Social Housing and many of the 60 odd benefits I have mentioned, Like WTF is all that about, and you wonder why I got pissed with my, the Tax Payers. money being squandered by successive governments , hence the reason why I packed my bags and fucked off.

 12. "is there will always be people who take the piss out of the system" Yes and sometimes the cost of those people is worth bearing, for the good of the whole. A year and some months ago, I had a stroke. Because we have an efficient Ambulance system, I got not one, but two rides to two different hospitals in very quick time, straight into the operating room and they pulled the clot. Kept me in over night, I reckon I'm 98~99% back to normal. Slightly better than normal as I've taken up Kayak fishing as a health kick and I eat a lot of primo fish and I am fitter as a result. All of this without regard to my financial circumstances or whether or not I am taking the piss... I am alive and grateful. Looking after yer peasants is not always a bad thing, indeed if you don't look after yer peasants, you'll be lynched eventually.

 13. Michael O’Leary, Chief Executive of Ryanair after arriving in a hotel in Manchester went to the bar and asked for a pint of Guinness. The barman said, "That will be £1 please, Mr. O’Leary." Taken aback, O'Leary replied, "That's very cheap," and handed over his money. "We do try to stay ahead of the competition", said the barman. "We have the cheapest beer in England". "That is remarkable value", Michael comments. "I see you don't have a glass, you'll need one of ours. That will be £3 please." O'Leary scowled, but paid up. He took his drink and walked towards a seat. "Ah, you want to sit down?" said the barman. "That'll be an extra £2. If you'd pre-booked it would have cost £1." O'Leary swore to himself, but paid up. "I see you've brought your laptop" added the barman. "That wasn't pre-booked either, that's another £3." O'Leary was so incensed and his face was red with rage. "I've had enough! I insist on speaking to a manager!" "Here is his e-mail address, or if you wish, you can contact him between 9.00 am and 9.01am every morning, Monday to Tuesday. Calls are free, unless answered, then there is a charge of only £1 per second". "I will never use this bar again". "OK but do remember, we are the only hotel in England selling pints for £1."

 15. Agree 100% I have 2 sons who I guarantee have relied on the internet for all their knowledge/information from the time they left school. The most dangerous types on the net IMO are the "Influences" whatever that is. And most of them are probably narcissists. I recently asked the younger one his thoughts on Andrew Tate. To my surprise he thought he was a great guy. I explained to him the guy was a misogynistic pig to which he expressed his disagreement. Moment of concern for me as a parent considering the way we brought him up. Zuckerberg is a despicable human being.

 17. How life changes our time and desires. Had a long chat to a buddie ( of many years ) this morning. We are both from NZ however met in Bangkok in 2000. Both now in our 60s and see LOS in a different perspective. Ten or so visits and 20 years later - could never repeat the pace of years back. Mind you, business has an impact as well. Nonetheless we both look forward to a few pints / the sand beaches of Phuket/ the never ending smiles in the bars late into the night/ and the freedom of time on or hands. Give me that pint !

 18. An exercise for people who are out of shape: Begin with a 2 kg potato bag in each hand. Extend your arms straight out from your sides, hold them there for a full minute, and then relax. After a few weeks, move up to a 5 kg potato bags. Then try 25 kg potato bags, and eventually try to get to where you can lift a 50 kg potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. This is the level I am right now. Once you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.

 20. Well I woke up Sunday morning With no way to hold my head, that didn't hurt And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad So I had one more for dessert Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes And found my cleanest dirty shirt Then I washed my face and combed my hair And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day I'd smoked my mind the night before With cigarettes and the songs I'd been pickin' But I lit my first and watched a small kid Playin' with a can that he was kicking Then I walked across the street And caught the Sunday smell of someone's fryin' chicken And Lord, it took me back to somethin' That I'd lost somewhere, somehow, along the way On a Sunday morning sidewalk I'm wishing, Lord, that I was stoned 'Cause there's something in a Sunday That makes a body feel alone And there's nothin' short of dyin' That's half as lonesome as the sound Of the sleepin' city sidewalk And Sunday mornin' comin' down In the park I saw a daddy With a laughin' little girl that he was swingin' And I stopped beside a Sunday school And listened to the songs they were singin' Then I headed down the street And somewhere far away a lonely bell was ringin' And it echoed through the canyon Like the disappearin' dreams of yesterday On a Sunday morning sidewalk I'm wishing, Lord, that I was stoned 'Cause there's something in a Sunday That makes a body feel alone And there's nothin' short of dyin' That's half as lonesome as the sound Of a sleepin' city sidewalk And Sunday mornin' comin' down

 21. Yes, Hugh Hoy has returned to find his favorite "sandbox" of years gone by still alive, if not kicking. LOL Hugh tried for a few years to get back on Thai 360 in his original incarnation, but grew frustrated with trying to overcome some "glitch" of one kind or another. Then, I discovered Facebook. But it seems that the pantyhose-wearing censors over there can't handle my politically incorrect comments or graphics. Screw 'em. I hit my 80th birthday last month, so like many of the original members of this board, "things have changed". I got wrapped up in a 25 year relationship with a great/"normal" Khmer "girl" and still manage "conjugal" activities with a former dancer at the Darling Bar from the 1980's (NOT the Tilac, but the Darling Bar that later became Rawhide). That doesn't mean that I don't enjoy hitting the bars these days. I go there for the eye candy and get my appetite up, but return to my old standby's to eat. No need blather on about how the "sanuk" scene has changed. We all know how and when and why. I recognize a lot of the monikers here and can actually put names/faces to some. LOL I've booked what will be my last trip to the LOS for Sept.-Oct. 2022. 8 weeks from now I will land in Phnom Penh and spend a few days before heading to Siem Reap. I'll make SR my base camp, as that is where Ms. Hoy resides. At some point during my 5+ weeks, I'll be heading over to BKK for up to a week. Sort of a last hurrah for this old man. If the stars are aligned correctly, maybe a few of us can get together for a lunch some place near the NEP and have walker races afterwards. LOL Hugh

 22. Slow Horses [2022 TV Series] Follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve as a dumping ground department of MI5 due to their career-ending mistakes under a leader with a penchant for living like a slob and breaking wind. Entertaining spy action drama series, now with two seasons complete and a third on the way, based on the Slough House novels, top acting, witty dialogue, Oldman steals every scene. Worth seeing.

 25. When I was at school we were given the Polio vaccine on a sugar cube (no not Bork), later we had the TB vaccine, a passage of rites, one had the same scar on the shoulder as your father, if you like your first tattoo (not that I have inkings) The number of times I fell of my bike, fell on broken glass, got bitten by neighbors dog etc and ent to the local infirmary for a tetanus jab, it was just all part and parcel of life and growing. As I got older and traveling overseas for work I have had, Yellow Fever, Cholera, Typhoid, Hepatitis, Rabies and Anthrax vaccinations to name a few. I never complained it was being forced on me, it was simple no vaccination, not allowed into foreign country, Covid Passport is nothing new, I have had a vaccination passport for over 30 years, it just seemed normal. And to hear todays anti-vaxxers whining and winging about civil liberties and against their will, Pathetic.

 28. Sean Connery was interviewed by Michael Parkinson, and bragged that despite his 72 years of age, he could still have sex three times a night. Kylie Minogue, who was also a guest, looked intrigued. After the show, Kyle said, “Sean, if I am not being too forward, I’d love to have sex with an older man. Let’s go back to my place.” So they go back to her place and have great sex. Afterwards, Sean says, “If you think that was good, let me sleep for half an hour, and we can have even better sex. But while I’m sleeping, hold my balls in your left hand and my dick in your right hand.” Kylie looks a bit perplexed, but says, “Okay”. He sleeps for half an hour, awakens, and they have even better sex. Then Sean says, “Kylie, that was wonderful. But if you let me sleep for an hour, we can have the best sex yet. But again, hold my balls in your left hand, and my Dick in your right hand.” Kylie is now used to the routine and complies. The results are mind blowing. Once it’s all over, and the cigarettes are lit, Kylie asks “Sean, tell me, does my holding your balls in my left hand and your dick in my right stimulate you while you’re sleeping?” Sean replies, “No, but the last time I slept with a slut from Melbourne, she stole my wallet.”

CS, I have high praise for the Keto diet. Big part of Keto is to cut out all sugar and reduce carbs, Don't eat anything after 3pm, one meal a day is good. You can form a Keto diet around your life style and needs.

Angry over campus speech by Uighur activist, students in Canada contact Chinese consulate, film presentation .....They were furious that a woman they considered a separatist would be given a platform to speak. So they rallied in a chat group and reached out to a familiar source of guidance: the Chinese government. ..... https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/angry-over-campus-speech-by-uighur-activist-students-in-canada-contact-chinese-consulate-film-presentation/2019/02/14/a442fbe4-306d-11e9-ac6c-14eea99d5e24_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.b80c2d2128e1 --- I find this amusing, because the reason, the Chinese Students are at McMaster University, in Ontario, is because like most Western Universities, the tenet of Free Speech is integral to the fabric of such universities and make them the excellent institutions of learning that they are and that Chinese students, are so desirous to attend... 39. I'm not going to go so far as blame Hillary Clinton. However, slavery in some form or another has been going on in North Africa in perpetuity. The migrant issue just made it bigger. It was going when Qadaffi was there as well but it was far more underground. The arabs have been enslaving Africans (and others) for over well over 1500 years to varying degrees of quantity. That said, the lack of global outcry is alarming. What is more alarming is why the subsaharan African countries aren't boycotting, threatening war, whatever. It's 2018!!

 40. Members of her family has spoken out about how the murder was used by the right for a political agenda https://www.vox.com/identities/2018/8/27/17786350/mollie-tibbetts-update-family-cristhian-rivera-trump I don't think its fair to say the left wants illegal unabated immigration. Its mainly what to do about them once they have been here for a certain length of time. And whether or not its worth the time and money spent to track them down as well as the moral ramifications of doing so (uprooting families). That is worthy of debate. Crime committed by said group isn't statistically one of the issues. As I repeated in an earlier post, you can make a stronger argument limiting the legal immigration of Russians and other nationalities if crime by immigrants is going to be on the table. I lived in LA and saw illegal immigration up close and personal. One of the things that was almost a cliche is that if you get into an accident, you hope the person isn't undocumented because they are either going to leave the scene or possibly didn't have insurance. It was just a part of life there. They avoided being anywhere 'in the system'. That said, I've known and met a few. The country has a lot of issues. Scapegoating any group undeservedly isn't right. Undocumented aren't responsibly for the crime rate or have a net overall negative effect on employment (at near historic lows) or wages. Should they be here? No. ICE is fairly new and frankly has been co opted from what it was originally set up for. Just like a few things (RICO statues as another example). Politicians have always misused and maligned the reputations of specific peoples historically in America in order to get votes going back decades if not a century or two. Jews, Blacks, Irish, all Catholics, eastern and southern Europeans, Gays, Feminists, the youth during the Vietnam era, corporations, unions, etc. We obfuscate and deflect from addressing far more specific reasons for problems we have as a nation and the solutions we need to overcome it. Immigration is an issue but my question is, are we spending the too much time and resources on it when that time and effort can be better spent on far graver issues. I think the politicians are using it as a deflection to avoid topics and answers that aren't going to be popular.
