SiLeakHunt Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Right, real fucker of a situation here. I had a non immigrant B multiple entry for a year. Got my passport nicked 2 months (give or take a day) into the first entry. I've got a new passport off the British Embassy, but the people at Satthorn have given me until the first stamp expired and are refusing to replace the full visa, saying I'll have to go home. Hull where I got the Visa, say they can send me a fax to prove I got the visa, but I'm not sure if this will wash. Can anybody help, give advice, tell me how to offer a backhander instead of flying back to the UK spell out some serious attainable alternatives? Cheers
Flashermac Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 My understanding is you can't get a multi-entry non-immig B anywhere in Asia now. But not letting you replace one you already has is really a bitch. I'd try writing to Hull, but I doubt if that would do it either. Welcome to the Land of Smiles.
MooNoi Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Sorry SiLeakHunt, Flash's right. Can't get one in Asia at all now. Had a friend in the same situation and he had to go home to NZ to get a new one. Pretty much the only place you can get one now is your home country. However, I have heard that sometimes the Thai consulates in Australia will give one to Brit/NZ/USA passport holders. You'd have to call one of them or look their website up on the net to find out. Perth would be the closest. Good luck.
elef Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Information from the Thai Consulate in Hull Loosing your passport in Thailand is something you must protect against. Please ensure you take careof your passport at all times and keep a copy of the pages with your details and any visas you may have separately. If you loose your passport while in Thailand it will be necessary for you to report the loss to the police. You will then have to obtain a new passport from the British Embassy in Bangkok. When you have received your new passport you may need to obtain a replacement visa. If you obtained your visa from this office we may be able to assist you to obtain a new one in Thailand. By keeping the information requested below in a safe place away from your passport it may save you a lot of heartache. If your visa was issued by this Consulate we will be able to fax to you in Thailand a letter certifying details of the visa which we issued to you . You must then take this certification and your new passport to your local Thai Immigration Office and request them to re-instate your visa. Whilst we cannot guarantee that the Thai authorities will issue a new visa to you they will assist you to ensure you do not become a â??persona-nongrataâ?Â. We advise you to fill in the details on the form below before you embark on your journey and keep it somewhere separate from your passport so you can access it if necessary. Please note there is a charge of £10 for issuing a certificate giving details of your visa for presentation to Thai Immigration. You will also need to provide credit/debit card details when you request such a certificate. Link # 7
SiLeakHunt Posted January 17, 2007 Author Report Posted January 17, 2007 I've got that certificate, it's still vague as to whether I'll get a new visa or not. By the sound of it it depends on their moods. Cheers
ThaiHome Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Ok, let me make sure I understand your situation. You got a basically bogus 1 year non imm B from a consulate that is known world wide for giving one for any reason if you have the dosh. Now, you got pissed and lost your passport and it is Thailandâ??s immigration â??moodâ? that decides if you get the bogus visa replaced in your passport (that is probably being busily copied by the slag that took it off of you). Does that pretty well sum up your situation? TH
SiLeakHunt Posted January 18, 2007 Author Report Posted January 18, 2007 I was legitimately given the visa. I can't be bothered explaining the details but it was above board. The theft was not above board, I'm pretty sure I was drugged, they way I felt the next day was not a hangover, I've had enough to know. If somebody were to steal my car should I have to take another driving test ? Anyway if you can offer constructive advice on how to remedy the situation or tell me about how you resolved the same situation yourself I'd be very grateful to hear from you. Cheers
ThaiHome Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 My experience is only in getting an extension put in a new passport so can't offer any more than what you are already doing about a visa. Take the letter from Hull saying they did issue the visa and see what immigration does. Not sure immigration is obligated or even can put a visa in the new passport. Visa are issued by embassies and consulates outside Thailand, immigration just issues extensions and such. Good luck and keep this passport safe. TH
