Bangkoktraveler Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Was there an office you could have delivered the docs to? I know of some who got it within one month and others that had to wait up to 3 months.
danno6 Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 My wife came over on a fiance visa...once we married here in the states, it took about 3 months to get her green card, and then another month or so to get the social security card (because immigration took longer to update SSA's computer with her new status).
passingthru69 Posted March 9, 2007 Author Report Posted March 9, 2007 Well I sent them to the Chicago office as was told to do in their web site forms and page. We are currently traveling now with my work. What I'm wondering about is her visa said finger prints waived, but when we arrived they finger printed her. No bigge. I sent them 2 checks. One for the 325. and on for 70 for finger prints plus her shot records. Was I to also send in chest x-rays also? Thanks for your help.
HSTEACH Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 If she came on a K-1, conditional permanent residence seems to be pretty fast. A lot of CR petitions are being approved without an interview. Mind you, the conditions have to be removed in two years so that she receives full permannt residence, ie, the full 10 year green card, which BTW is white. If the petition to remove conditions is not filed, the CR is null and void. Also, if the CR is received without an interview, you'll probably have an have an interview to remove conditions. My wife came to the US on a K-3 and it took almost 2 years to get her 10 year green card. The xray from the medical in Bangkok is not needed anymore. File it away.
cavanami Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 The previous "green card" was pink...go figure!
