WATERTIGHT car insurance?

On our next trip we're thinking of borrowing her sons car for the duration of our stay BUT I need some watertight car insurance.

I don't need any scamming Thai's trying to rip off the farange!

just hire a humvee, everything will avoid you and hey presto no accidents!

Insurance here is on the car not the person. I doubt if many Thais have A1 insurance (fully comprehensive).

When I first saw this thread title I thought you were coming here in rainy season or using the car to go fishing in.

 

As torrenova rightly points out, insurance is on the actual vehicle not the person. So as long as her sons vehicle is insured, you have International Driving Permit and are not under the Influence of Drugs / Alcohol you will be covered.

You need A1 or first class insurance if you're a Farang. Mine goes down every year, seems like a no claim bonus and is down to 14,000B in the third year on a new D-Max.

Check the car out first, if it's a banger hire something decent. If it's a good car get him to up grade his current insurance if it's not first class.

You don't need first class if a farang, where did that come from. I have a old car I can't even get first class on~

I've found that laminating each page of the insurance policy and then putting all the pages into one of those resealable plastic bags usually does the trick.
