The Naked Gun [2025 Movie]
Only one man has the particular set of skills - to lead Police Squad and save the world. This US comedy is a reboot of the old Police Squad and Naked Gun series of films. Its not as funny this time around with labored drawn out gags, a movie that was probably more fun to make than watch.

The Thursday Murder Club [2025 Movie]
Four retirees spend their time solving cold case murders for fun, but their casual sleuthing takes a thrilling turn when they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands. Based on the popular book, this movie rendition is old school lighthearted mediocrity held together only with a stellar cast.

Not a prime time movie but harmless enough for a Rainy Sunday afternoon (Rainy Season here now), Definitely an old school quirky feel to it

As someone who grew up with Jane Tennison in Prime Suspect 30 odd years ago I expected the twist near the end.

The type of movie I wouldn’t have given a second look when I was in my 30s, but now I am in my 60s I found it quite amusing, relatable even, in its own little way

Tempted but how can you substitute Leslie Nielsen.

Weapons [2025 Movie]
When all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance. The horror genre is not for everyone, the premise is preposterous, but this wild ride is original well crafted story telling from different perspectives, the ending underwhelms but overall a good scary laugh.

The Life of Chuck [2024 Movie]
A life-affirming, genre-bending story about the life of an ordinary man named Charles Krantz. Based on the 2020 Stephen King story of the same name, this movie in three acts is shown in reverse starting with the end of the world, is a profound idea more than a narrative! Covers all the emotions, with a dash of supernatural, whilst just about avoiding schmaltz, the second act fabulous street dance scene is worth it alone.

I did it, so now you have to.  Liam Neeson is in my opinion excellent! " with labored drawn out gags" precisely what made the original and now this new-un, so funny.

If I have a criticism,  it is that in this age of very high definition cameras and screens, Pamela Anderson's makeup does little to hide her facial blemishes.

Other than that - a worthy successor.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning (2025)

finally saw this

The usual antics and cast, if you've not seen all the predecessors, then this is a good couch sitter, but of the crop, this is less than the best one.

As Señor Cruise seems to own this franchise:

1. there was a lot of "everyone has to say something good"  about "Ethan Hunt" - me - adulation  , à la a Trump cabinet meeting.

2. there was more of this sprinkled throughout the movie, one can't help wonder if Tom believes he and Ethan are one.

3. Lots of computer/Ai aided visuals, Tom is a fit old bugger, but when he's got his shirt off, it is an old man's barrel rib cage you're seeing.

4. despite the Villain being Ai, there was a man playing the role  (or seeking control over it) and he wasn't as evil as all of that.

How ever - this is a good couch sitter, but of the crop, this is less than the best one.

Certain actors I just can’t stand, Tom Cruise among them…He seems labored and over acting…that said, each actor I can’t stand has 1 film they did nail, for Cruise, it was “the color of money…” mainly because he played a cocky jerk.  Other actors I can’t stand…Jim Carey, yet he nailed “Man on the moon.” Sly Stallone, yet he was great in “FIST” and I’d say the first Rocky movie, but he basically ripped that off and never paid up when he lost in court, so fuck him… John Travolta, but he did a good job in “Ladder 41”… and as “Gotti…”

Relay [2024 Movie]
A broker of lucrative payoffs between corrupt corporations and the individuals who threaten them breaks his own rules when a new client seeks his protection to stay alive. Excellent modern thriller with an old school vibe, well worth seeing.
