American civil rights icon Jessie Jackson has died at 84. He was part of MLK’s group and helped shape civil rights policy in the USA…we really need people like him these days.

Another great man.

He was controversial and some considered him an opportunist of sorts, he was a bit of a manipulator and “politician” of sorts, but he did get stuff done. One of his noted accomplishments was getting a downed fighter pilot returned home after he had been shot down. He also engaged in other “unofficial” diplomatic missions on his own and many resulted in getting people freed.

I guess that leaves only Keith Carradine alive of the brothers. I recall sometime back when David Carradine was found dead in a Bangkok hotel room under ‘mysterious circumstances’.. They were all good together in “The Long Riders” movie, which was I think a long-term family project. It had a couple of very good scenes, including the failed Minnesota bank robbery and the intense fight scene when brother David faces-off with one tough Indian.

Ned Beatty, the Oscar-nominated character actor who in half a century of American movies was a booming, indelible presence in even the smallest parts, has died aged 83.

Liked some of his roles. Wasn't he in Deliverance?

He was the pig, I believe the term 'spit roast' arose at this time.
