Old Hippie Posted March 3, 2025 Report Posted March 3, 2025 11 hours ago, Coss said: I was ambivalent about Zelensky, nice guy with a difficult job, etc. Then this before the big spat: Before their ugly clash, Zelensky, who was dressed in his trademark clothes, was asked by a reporter why he was not wearing a suit to the meeting in the United States' "highest level" office. "Why don't you wear a suit? Do you own a suit?" he asked, leaving Trump, US Vice President JD Vance and other senior officials in the room in splits. "Do you have a problem?" Zelensky shot back at the reporter. "A lot of Americans have a problem with who don't respect the dress code of the Oval office," the reporter responded. Zelensky then said he would wear a suit after the Russia-Ukraine war, which broke out in 2022, finishes. "I will wear a (suit) costume after this war finishes, yes. Maybe something like yours, yes, maybe something better. I don't know, we will see. Maybe something cheaper. Thank you," he responded. His training in Comedy coming to the fore. Now I've got a bit if admiration. The reporter who attacked Zelensky over the suit, is a Trumpanzee, Brian Glenn, who incidentally, just happens to be the boyfriend of far-Right congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. Does Trump's wink to Marjorie Taylor Green's reporter boyfriend Brian Glenn prove the White House bust-up with Zelensky was a 'planned political mugging'? According to my cousin, Zelensky was wearing the equivalent of a Military track suit top and Casual pants. As an American who hates suits and doesn’t own one, I see nothing wrong with his attained and am not offended. There is NO formal dress code for the Oval Office. Arab dignitaries have shown up in their traditional robes and it was not an issue. In short, fuck Brian Glenn. 1
Mekong Posted March 3, 2025 Author Report Posted March 3, 2025 A Certain Winston Churchill famously wore a boiler suit throughout WW2 and showed up at the White House wearing it
Coss Posted March 3, 2025 Report Posted March 3, 2025 Lest the casual observer be "influenced" to think, that many on this board are anti-American, please note, everyone here knows Americans and counts them, some members here, as friends. What is being derided and detested is the current leadership. To be silent in the face of, such abject failure, in intelligence, in morality and in duty of office, would be negligent. 1

IMHO there are two types of American. 1. The ones who travel overseas often, and experience different lifestyles and cultures, many of this group I am lucky enough to have been able to call friends over the years. 2. The ones who live in an Isolationist Bubble which is the USA, some of whom don’t fen know about the outside world let alone acknowledge it. The ones (on other forums) are claiming that the US could stroll into Canada and Mexico and take control within 24 hours and get upset when the failures of Afghanistan and Vietnam are pointed out the type who spend their lives in there moms basement simultaneously jerking off, picking their spots and playing Call of Duty. The type who claim that the US invented the Car, Train, Computer or anything else you care to mention, and gave it to the world. Unfortunately Type 1 tends to be quiet, refined and in a minority going through life as a decent human being and fitting in well either society, whereas type 2 tends to be loud. Obnoxious and boorish and outnumber Type 1 by a long way. Today type 2 can easily be spotted by the silly little red baseball cap they they all seem to wear, a modern take on the Dunces Cap 1

Obnoxious and boorish and outnumber Type 1 by a long way. Today type 2 can easily be spotted by the silly little red baseball cap they they all seem to wear, a modern take on the Dunces Cap The majority here (USA) are type 2, which I think is maybe changing but it will take years. The “boomers,” those born 1945-64 or something? Most were raised on John Wayne movies and the idea that the USA was #1 in the world. In fairness, as the USA did not receive “war damage” as did many countries in Europe, we had everything here…industry intake, resources etc that had not been destroyed. As a result, we had the might, the wealth and the muscle and all was well. The war vets strutted around and received praise, which they did deserve, Hollywood depicted as all very one sided as to who really won the war etc…never mind the truth. So there is that. As noted, many of these people never saw a reason to leave the USA for anything “plenty to see here…” was a common mantra and still is. As I have said before, I work for an airline, we can fly anywhere in the world for free or practically free, discounts on rental cars, hotels etc…but a lot of guys just can’t be bothered to go anywhere, especially if they don’t speak English there. These people are generally intolerant of others, hearing other languages, smelling “different food” etc… Many are trump lovers… I asked one of these people why he never went anywhere and he gave the familiar “…plenty to see here…” I said well what about Hawaii or Alaska? And his response was “…I don’t even consider those people to be Americans…” So yeah there you have it… one of the 70% without a passport… Passport possession went up a bit after 911 when it became necessary for travel to Canada and Mexico for extended stays…WTF ?? Saw the attached photo today and was reminded of the loudmouth idiot who used to post here before getting the boot, you may remember him, name was Rogueyam or something, he typifies(d?) the type 2 person Mekong references…
