At what stage does LOS lose appeal?

The high speed rail and tollway to Hua Hin opens soon I'm told. 

 

I used to work there on and off, always liked Hua Hin.

I have a mate who's retiring, 3 months in Hia Hin, 3 months in Udon (wife) 3 months in Oz.  repeat endlessly.

 

Seems a plan.

 

He doesn'tike Thailand enough and has too many mates in Oz to commit 100% to Thailand.

Surin up North East. We will probably hit Hua Hin as we love the place. If I can renew my driver’s license in Surin (NE) then we may skip Jomtien run…would love to hit Chaing Mai/Rai but not sure…may try to extend the trip as I will have yet another knee operation in August, which may interfere with out plan of CM/R for Loy Kratong…Alaska trip bagged until next year….  Would love a dive trip south…but will have to wait…

He still has the Starbeam restaurant, went there last year, very good, even the Mrs liked it. That other place farang connection was awful, bloke died though so dont now if it's still there.

Of course, like many people who called Thailand home for a long time and later left, there's much I miss about the place.

For me, Thai is forever. Abandoned PNP, in 2002. We own condos in Thai and in Japan. Legally, my biological  daughter with my Thai woman, in my legal will, owns them both.
We intend (my wife and me) to be in Thai in our condo 6 months a year, the rest in our condo in Japan.
Our daughther (now 22), a student in Australia,  loves Australia (she has been to NZ) so much, hard to convince her to come to either Thai or Japan. Her English is native, Japanese very profficient, Thai a bit less. Still taking Thai language lessons.
We, oldies, would alternate between Japan and Thai. Somehow, the both coutries feel like home.

I agree, Thai is forever, too much vested at this point   Going back to “…at what stage does it lose its allure…” For some maybe after a trip or 4, or if they get burned or have a bad experience etc… For me, it hasn’t lost anything, though my priorities have changed. But the ease of life and over all relaxed atmosphere of rural life has a new charm that I like.
