Major losses in the last 2 weeks…NVDA and other stocks taking massive hits…All the experts changing course…what is one to do for retirement planning these days..? I am considering doubling/tripling down on lottery tickets and or a life of crime…I hear Wall Street crime pays the best and you don’t need a gun and if you get caught you serve little time in an easy prison…

ever the doomsayer, I see the following:

Misinformation and far right riots all over the UK, Bangladesh becoming non functional, Israel, Ukraine, etc etc

And the Stock markets... I'm feeling a tiredness of the Consumer, not just  a situation where the cost of living is becoming difficult for more people, but a lack of enthusiasm to spend, even when the ability to do so is present.

The new motorbike/big TV/12th pair of shoes, is not holding the same allure that it used to.

This is of course anathema to the people with big money. People not spending is quiet times for profits.

I see that Warren Buffet has just halved his holdings in Apple.

This following is arguably in the wrong thread, but I feel that, geographic location aside, it is a big flapping flag that demonstrates the symptoms of failing systems, referred to in the previous post. - vis:

When you leave the Watay airport in Vientiane and look over the road you see this - this is a new Bank - ST bank I believe.

But what is the dome shaped bit at front right?

The dome thingy is just one of many, that form  the new residence being built by the owner of the aforementioned ST bank.

On closer examination of the owner -

...the complex interplay of international investment, legal disputes, and the intricate dynamics of the gaming industry in Southeast Asia. This narrative is centered on the arbitration case between Sanum Investments Ltd, a Macau company with American ownership, and the Lao-based ST Group Co. Ltd, ST Vegas Co. Ltd, along with its owner, Sithat Xaysoulivong, a prominent Lao businessman and owner of ST Bank. The case, overseen by a Tribunal seated in Macau under the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), resulted in a monumental award of approximately USD175 million in favor of Sanum Investments Ltd....

https://stlaocollection.com/summary-of-facts-macau-icc-abitration-sanum-vs-st/

jeez.

I note here that Sithat Xaysoulivong appears to be the owner or an owner of several Casino/etc etc operations that are allowed to operate in special economic zones at the friendship bridge near Vientiane and also up North.

Again - not posted solely because of the Lao content, but to demonstrate that the people with money, will organise and structure the world, so as to give themselves the most benefit.

I had a chat with my son the other night. He asked why do we care about the US election.

I used the stock market and his super fund to get the point across after Monday's crash.
