bust Posted March 4, 2025 Report Posted March 4, 2025 My view of airlines is you get what you pay for. But I am one of the lucky ones as I have "staff" travel privileges with top tier on-boarding 😉

Mekong Posted March 4, 2025 Report Posted March 4, 2025 It’s just that on-boarding is the orientation of new employees to a job and has nothing to do with boarding an aircraftÂ
bust Posted March 5, 2025 Report Posted March 5, 2025 What I meant by on boarding is staff travel is usually on standby which is where the top tier comes in to play. In other words I will get a seat before a flight attendant or baggage handler.
Coss Posted March 5, 2025 Author Report Posted March 5, 2025 Curious minds wanna know - by top tier -  do you mean paid for business class? or is there some other tier that us mortals can access? I have relatives that use business class because of the peace of mind that it gives them. Me,  I need the money to upgrade kitchen in house 2Â
bust Posted March 6, 2025 Report Posted March 6, 2025 So how it works with staff travel is the higher up the corporate ladder you are within the company, the greater the chance you get on the flight. And if there are business or first class seats empty the more likely you are to get an upgrade. The down side is you are never guaranteed a seat. And sometimes you may not be able to get direct flights. Last time away I had to spend an extra night in Phnom Penh for that reason.  Horrible it was 😜 Phnom Penh to Singapore to Melbourne to Sydney Business Class $400 😊
My Penis is hungry Posted March 9, 2025 Report Posted March 9, 2025 QAMTAS Platinum for years never once an upgrade  Emirates, I hadn't flown them for a number of years, no longer any level, was even code share so not even Emirates, arrived at gate, Beep Beep,  Is that bad? I asked  Only if you don't like business class sir, welcome back to Emerates, we haven't seen you for a while enjoy your upgrade  Huge difference!  Even some USA airlines have a policy to never have empty seats in business, keep their most frequent flyers happy.  Qantas ucka.

Round trip coach on ANA Narita to Bangkok is $150USD…

Link #20 is Japan Airlines, which was involved in an accident in very early 2024 in Haneda in which 5 people lost their lives and 18 injured. The story I linked even references that accident. Hard to believe a list that includes a disaster that killed five people and think that they would be safer than others. That was a mistake by Air Traffic Control and the pilot of the propeller plane (De Havilland Canada Dash 8-Q300 operated by the Japan Coast Guard  bound to bring releif supplies to Noto, hit by the earthquake, 2. January 2024. The small plane simply stood in the way of the landing ANA Airbus 350 from Sapporo. Nothing ANA pilots could do. None of the passengers and the crew on the ANA airplane got hurt, 100s of them evacuated before the plane (Airbus 350) burst in flames.
