Old Hippie
When in Thailand, we like to try different food, give the pallette a break from the Isarn napalm my wife makes daily. I used to go, excited to eat Thai food…now I am actually looking foreward to eating something different at one or the many non-Thai places…German food is something my wife likes, Korean was also good and Sushi is always a hit…Any ideas/suggestions for Italian places? Anything different? I know we all used to eat at an Arab place off Soi 5 after the Friday night meet ups, but I think it may have closed or changed hands… Thank you all for any suggestions… Over all, I find many of the Foreign places in Thailand to be better than those in the USA, better ingredients maybe, more concientious kitchen staff? What ever it is, I like it.
Coss
9 minutes ago, Old Hippie said: Isarn napalm Or Lao fire ! I figured this one out, once I stood and watched MLG make Tam Mark Houng/SomTam - then asked her to make it the same way, next time but leave adding the chillies till last. So make it - then add one Chilli and then spoon out some for Coss, into a separate bowl. Now add the rest of the 300 chillies to the remainder. Perfect Curiously, when I was living in Laos, I could handle extreme levels on the Scoville scale. Now not so much. This works well
Old Hippie
I like spicy food, but damned! Now she tells everyone “…mai pet…” and I say no, a little is ok…everyone laughs at me and the food is still too damned hot… She actually likes some German food we ate at Old German Beer Haus and a few dishes I made, German, Russian and Polish…so I get a break. Today she suggested we go eat at the German place…so who am I to argue..? She has also acquired a taste for Belgian fruit beers…
My Penis is hungry
Italian - Rossano's used to be great, but they sold out I heard, up in Soi 23, was kinda weird, a few decades ago, the owner had his parents working in the kitchen, almost like he'd hidden their passports But the grappa was homemade and great and the food amazing,
Old Hippie
Arrived 2 nights ago…worse, MUCH worse for wear…Wife wanted to eat something so we walked, I crawled around Soi 8 and found some really good food about 01:30 or so…not many people out and last night along the old stroll seemed relatively quiet…Had dinner last night at Detroit (on Soi 8 ) and it is still very good and reasonably priced. Jet lag of sorts hit last night, and stress kept me wide awake…hate that…here are some poor quality photos of some food…food you see and 3 drinks total was a little less than 900bht including tip. I vaguely remember this place (and a lot of other stuff) when it was on Soi 5 it was good then and remains good now. Tonight will be food off some street venders “…save you money…”

bust
555 .... respect your honesty. Also try shooting in landscape with your phone. That means holding it in the horizontal position 😋

They means holding it in the horizontal position 😋 Well, we could follow 127’s advice and “…use verticals…” or “…rule of thirds…” Most of the stuff I shot that mattered was in real time sometimes called “life photography.” Travel stuff and news stuff… By “…glad we agree…” I am referring to the fact that phone cams suck… ok for snap shot type stuff, but real work requires real tools…I am not a big fan of “…I’ll fix it in post…”
think_too_mut
My Thai wife , a certified chef, can make 320 different Thai meals, like none repeats for a year. Thailand is more cosmopolitan than Japan (while both are culinary superpowers). I go to Villa Market and get dozens of meat pies. Aussie meat pies. Once, in Tokyo, there was a bakery with meat pies (2004). I asked the shop assistant: "Empty that tray into this bag", like a robbery.
